Forty short, easy-reading memoirs record events that occurred when the author and his family lived and worked in the Middle East. This was before the days of mobile phones and all forms of communication made possible by the advent of the internet. The stories cover family matters such as travel, language learning, cultural issues, home life, illness and accident. The work stories are about teaching Science and English at secondary level, followed by the production and distribution of Christian films and teaching material in Arabic on video. The events all took place in peaceful Jordan, Syria, Egypt, Cyprus, and also in civil war torn Lebanon when both "peacekeeping" Syrian and "occupation" Israeli armies were also deployed in different parts of the land. The majority of the stories tell of incidents that could be construed to have a supernatural, or God directed, element in them. The reader is left to decide which of the stories recount supernatural incidents or if the events described were just welcome and timely coincidents.

Your feelings, your emotions, how you think and what you do about them matter. They either feed or starve your holistic health and wellbeing. I sat down and talked with a few friends and colleagues about you. The various topics we discussed about the mind, body and spirit were intriguing and thought provoking. I imagine you are probably taking good care of yourself and that is to be commended. However, there are usually some areas where we can maximize self-care. The legendary American jazz vocalist Ella Fitzgerald said it best, "It isn't where you come from; it's where you're going that counts." Born on April 25th in Newport, Virginia, Ella's early life was marked by hardships. Her parents never married, and her mother tragically passed away when she was just fifteen due to a car accident. Ella faced challenges and a difficult upbringing, including allegations of abuse and periods of homelessness. Yet, her love for music remained unwavering. In January 1935, an opportunity arose that would change Ella's life forever. She participated in a vocal contest at the Amateur Nights at the Apollo Theater and emerged victorious. From that moment, a new chapter began for Ella, brimming with obstacles and challenges in an era of discrimination and racial separatism. Despite criticism and being banned for her civil rights activism, Ella continued to dream, work hard, and forge her path forward. This anthology, inspired by Ella's journey, delves into the lives of women who have faced their own twists, bumps, and curves. Each story reflects their resilience, suffrage, tenacity, and unwavering faith in God. They wear the stiletto as a metaphor-a symbol of navigating through life's trials with grace and strength. Just as Ella's purity of tone and impeccable diction made her a revered figure in American history, they, too, have woven their unique narratives into the fabric of their collective experiences.Join them in this anthology, as they share our stories, demonstrating how faith and trust in God have lovingly guided them from pain to purpose. Discover the transformative power of resilience and the remarkable journeys of women who refuse to be defined by their past, embracing their true potential.Dr. Linda Harvey, acclaimed author and compiler of this empowering anthology, invites you to explore the depths of these testimonies and be inspired by the indomitable spirit of women who have overcome adversity to find their purpose.

"Jazmin came fluttering into our home, speaking of healing and miracles. I didn't know how to tell her I didn't believe in that nonsense." Cindy Henson had jumped on a miracle train twenty-five years earlier, believing God was going to heal her young son of severe autism, and quickly jumped off with a suitcase full of bitterness. God had healed the bitterness, but she still didn't believe in miracles. From day one, soon-to-be daughter-in-law, Jazmin, who had been diagnosed with terminal adrenal cancer, declares she is holding out on a miracle from God. Cindy wonders if she has the fortitude to endure a life of believing in miracles and makes it her mission to help Jazmin accept that she is dying and the possibility of receiving no miracle at all. Then God invites Cindy to take out her hope-suitcase, pack up her mourning, and help Jazmin live the rest of her life believing in miracles. Through fundraisers, prayer chains, long hospital stays, and deep conversations about faith, Cindy learns from Jazmin that the best way to live a fragile life is with hope and belief that miracles still happen every day. Suitcases from Heaven: A Mother's Hope Journey through Her Daughter-in-Law's Cancer helps caregivers and cancer victims understand that God knows the number of their days, and their life is not in the hands of the medical community but in His loving hands.

Although work requires the assistance of the whole being, Z.T. Fomum takes care to show that there is spiritual work, intellectual work, and manual work. Manual work is that which requires physical energy in any accomplishment. Therefore, it is obvious to note that all the heroes of the Bible were great manual workers, beginning with God Himself. Thus, every manual work should be done with a sense of honour, respect, and perfection. In this book, the author exhorts the Third World to work, to cultivate the abundant land that God has given them. Each worker must ensure that God is glorified in his work by his nature and that this work is pleasing to God in its quality and quantity of productivity. This book is a study of work through the Bible. Read it and be blessed.

THE SUPERNATURAL POWER OF JESUS IS YOURS.The Church is suffering from a spiritual amnesia epidemic. We forget that Jesus wants more for us than to be in awe of His power-He has given it to us to impart onto others. And sometimes, He sends us saints as a reminder. That's what Pastor Benny Hinn did for Pastor Kent Mattox.Led by the Spirit is an account of his personal journey with Pastor Benny that will:Enable you to transmit the power of the Holy Spirit within you to others.Provide a comprehensive series of revelations to unleash the supernatural.Prepare you to take the supernatural with you when God says "move".Convince you that God is always ready for you to steward His power.Inspire you to surrender to all that He has for you.The power of pastoral mentorship is one of God's favorite keys to unlocking our authority in Christ. Who we have dwelling within us isn't just a supernatural God, but a God who says the supernatural is ours.

It saddens me to learn that so many Christians and churchgoers do not know if they are saved, born again, or going to heaven, or if they know the importance of God's Word. I saw God's people perishing because of their lack of knowledge of God. I would ask, "Are you saved?"The answers would be, "I hope so. I go to church, and I sing in the choir," etc. I would grieve at these answers. Some lack knowledge because no priority is placed on the Word of God or preaching the Word of God or reading the Bible.I spoke in many churches, taught the Bible, and preached the Bible. I found some perishing because they rejected the Word of God. Some thought the message that was given from the pulpit on their day of worship was all they needed. Some thought being baptized was the born-again experience. Some thought going to the building was an act of salvation. When the Holy Spirit taught me the truth, I was sorrowful each time I would visit a church. I felt death, spiritual death. I prayed, "Lord, please teach Your Word or preach Your Word to the people. Please let it be Your truth." I was burdened for years, and the Lord anointed me to be a part of serving His truth and His Word. Thank you, God.

God has big plans for your life. You are unique, handcrafted by God, and nobody knows this better than God Himself. But can you recognize the greatness in you? We truly limit God when we don't allow Him to take us through the infamous transformation process He's so known for. No matter what stage of life you are in, there is something God is working on in your life. Though we each differ in the things God needs to work out in our lives, one thing we all have in common is that God needs to take us from our "Egypt" into our "Promised Land." Leaving Egypt behind will help you leave behind past mistakes and hurts and a life you no longer want to live and embrace the promises of God so you can fulfill your God-given assignment.

Some events in our lives can leave us feeling shattered, lost, doubtful, and scared. When going through these times in our lives, we can wonder how God can use them for His glory. How can God use abuse or the loss of a child? How can He use addiction or any of the other mistakes that haunt our past? When we look at the Bible, we don't see perfect people. We see people who struggled, who suffered, and who were lost. God used them in spite of that. There are countless powerful stories in the Bible where things seem to be irreparable, but God showed how amazing He is. God showed how powerful He is in the Bible and can do the same in your life. You have to be willing to allow Him access to the sometimes-painful areas. The areas we want to hide from Him are where God tends to do His best work. What was once something we were ashamed of, God can turn it around to impact people lost in the same situation. There is always hope regardless of the situation whether unexpected or a consequence of our actions or inaction.God can take something seen as broken and turn it into something beautiful that glorifies Him. We have to be willing to allow Him the ability and trust in Him to do so. Are you ready to see what God can do with the shattered pieces of your life?

-ABOUT THE BOOK: God can renew all things. Society today seems to rejoice when others fail, condemning them like the Jewish accusers who, in a time of transition between two covenants, brought the adulterous woman out to be stoned. But Jesus, with His head bowed low, showed genuine compassion: I will bring her grace, I will bring her love, and I will bring her forgiveness. The gospel shows us that if we come to Jesus, He will provide for us this beautiful bouquet of flowers made with grace, love, and forgiveness. Hath no man condemned thee? . . . Neither do I condemn thee: go, and sin no more. -John 8:10-11-ABOUT THE AUTHOR: Getchens Mathurin was the assistant pastor of Bethlehem Free Methodist Church of Brooklyn, NY, from 2011 to 2016. He has a bachelor's degree in accounting from York College-City University of New York (CUNY), and he is an enrolled agent with the Internal Revenue Service (IRS).
