The quest for happiness, human flourishing, and well-being is one of the most universal, primeval desires of humankind. It is a natural desire to care for one's personal interest, to seek some measure of flourishing. In two of his great works, Thomas Aquinas argues that perfect happiness is not possible in this life. Humankind's quest for happiness is found in the contemplation of the truth which begins in this life but will be consummated in the Beatific Vision when we shall see Christ face to face.In the second part of his imminent work The Summa Theologica, Thomas Aquinas seeks to integrate Aristotelian philosophy with Christian theology. The cornerstone of his theoretical system is eudaimonia, human flourishing, well-being, or happiness. Aquinas ultimately concludes that perfect happiness (beatitude) cannot be achieved in this life. However, imperfect happiness is possible. For Aquinas, humankind's happiness (eudaimonia) is realized in the sublime contemplation of the truth. This quest for wisdom and understanding is specific to humankind, as opposed to other creatures. Aquinas asserts that the perfect discernment, the realization of truth will occur in the Beatific Vision when we see God face to face.
David A. Williams Jr. has always had a creative and entrepreneurial mind, and growing up, he became more attached to writing. His relationship with God shows in his work, not neglecting the fact that we are all human. In "Words of a Troubled Soul," David mirrors his feelings and takes on life through his work. This book starts like David's life: rough, dark, and hopeless. You'll notice some helpful sayings and quotes as you continue to read. As you reach the book's climax, you'll see his writings become brighter and more hopeful. David wanted this introduction of the series to show that it's okay to think and feel how you do. So for him, he kept God in the midst of the light and the dark times. The last thing he mentioned was that there are many troubled souls in this world, and he wants to put the brave ones in this series.

Frank Varro, author of 'Stories from the Boxcar,' is a retired Methodist pastor, prison and hospice chaplain, missionary, teacher, counselor, and musician. He is from a three-generation family of China missionaries. This 'Quilogy' (five-books-in-one) is the story of his paternal Hungarian-immigrant heritage, and his maternal-missionary heritage. It relates to his father's boyhood home-a boxcar on a siding in Regina, Saskatchewan-from which came his father's many stories and life's lessons, which is the theme of Dr. Varro's book, pictures of his own life, struggles, victories, and detours along the way. The journey takes us through his international childhood in Alaska, Canada, China, Hong Kong, Taiwan, and five states of the U.S. He graduated from Morrison Academy, a Taiwan missionary boarding school; he also graduated from Seattle Pacific University, where he met and married Margo Moore, his accompanist-now his wife of fifty-six years. The story goes on with their own radio and TV missionary work, and teachers at Taipei American School in Taiwan; it continues with the birth of their daughter in Taiwan, and an around-the-world trip through Asia and Europe; then back to Seattle at the University of Washington-earning a Masters of Music, and Doctor of Music Arts in Choral Conducting degrees. He taught elementary, middle school, high school, and college music in Taiwan, Seattle, Oregon, Ohio, and Texas. After fifteen years as teacher and college music professor, Dr. Varro held music positions in churches, and founded two community music ensembles. Following times of spiritual struggle and renewal, he graduated from Houston Graduate School of Theology with Masters of Divinity, Masters of Arts in Counseling, and Doctor of Ministry in Pastoral Counseling degrees. He trained and was Staff Counselor at Samaritan Counseling Center in Houston. He founded Varro Counseling, spending the next twenty-two years in pastoral counseling, free-lance music, prison, and retreat ministries, as an ordained minister, in first the Evangelical Presbyterian Church, then the United Methodist Church, and finally the Global Methodist Church. The last two books outline his spiritual struggle and renewal before ordination. He and Margo are parents of Shelley, born in Taiwan; Steve, born in Oregon; and Rob, born in Ohio; they have five grandchildren, and one great-granddaughter. He and Margo have lived in Houston, Texas, for thirty-nine years.
The events in this book rocked my world to its core. The experiences in this book made me question what was really real. Certain perfectly timed events would occur in my life at just the precise moments that could not be just easily explained away by being coincidences - just the sheer multitude of them would put even the greatest skeptic's faith to the test. Have you ever wondered about the wonders of the universe and if there could be some greater power out there, but it just didn't make scientific and logical sense to you? Is there any evidence of it at all? You will see some signs in this book that will compel you to open your eyes and look at the world through a different lens. This book will make you ponder a little more about what is really real and challenge your belief system. Sometimes the answers to our questions are right there in front of us, we just aren't perceptive enough to even notice them. These breathtaking moments not only put me in awe and amazement, but they gave me hope, inspiration to be strong, and a sense of peace with the direction of my life. Join me on this journey as I take you through these magical and mysterious moments in my life that caused me to completely stop my momentum in whatever task I was performing and ponder - Is This Really Real right now? Did that just really happen at this exact moment? Join me through my inner turmoil of wrestling with all of the logic that I learned in school against the glimmer of hope that a place like heaven could really be real. Join me during the darkest times consisting of the darkest thoughts of my life all the way through to the most joyous and triumphant of times. Follow alongside me through the mental struggles, the magical and logically unexplainable coincidences, to the end result of the journey. You will exit this emotional journey differently than you entered it. You will have another viewpoint to explore for yourself. If they say seeing is believing, well, I'm seeing and I'm believing. There are deeply personal experiences in this book that I have not previously shared with anyone. When my wife read it for the first time, she was learning things about me that she never knew. Feelings and thoughts that I've kept locked up inside for all of these years. They are set free and revealed for the first time in this book.
People often have no idea what's on your plate of life. It's in these times that you get the enemy attempting to add to the mind, speculation, misunderstanding, false judgment, doubt, insecurity, self-esteem, failure, gender, race, education, age, your past, etc. Be reminded that this plate set before you, God knows, and he will sit at the table with you to make sure that you swallow everything with complete victory, as I have by faith!
Forgiveness in a Cynical Age taps into a rich fountain of ideas from religion and communication to explore how we can forgive others that wrong us.Using communication as a point of departure, the author challenges readers to take a journey with those who offend us. By accepting the wrongdoer and walking with them, we can forgive them-and it is in forgiving that we are also forgiven.Steeped in wisdom from the Old and the New Testaments, the book considers questions such as:How can we define forgiveness? What do we gain by forgiving others? How did the people in the Bible and other religions view forgiveness? We all know that it takes a lot out of us to truly forgive someone, whether it is a small or heinous offense. By reading this book, readers will be better equipped to forgive those who have wronged them, offering wrongdoers the immeasurable love that comes out of forgiveness.

"It intrigues me to reflect on the reality that my systematic study of the various "ologies" of Christian theology and my hobby of turning bowls from wood scraps have much in common, particularly in the case of the nature and function of the Christian community-both some church somewhere and all Christians everywhere. In many ways the diversity of those wood scraps is similar to the diversity of the people who make up the Christian community. Species of wood are even more diverse than the racial, ethnic, cultural, and ideological diversities of human beings, yet they are all botanical products of the creativity of God as surely as we are all human beings created by that same God. This means that the scraps resulting from the creative endeavors of a woodworker are not automatically useless and worthless simply because they are flawed or oddly sized or hard to work with or damaged in some way. In a similar way, human beings who, by our own collective and individual choices, have fallen from our original relationship to our Creator are not automatically useless and worthless simply because theologically, psychologically, sociologically, and ecologically we are flawed, oddly sized, hard to work with, and damaged by our collective and individual choices to go our own way rather than God's way"--
>He covers three important doctrines: Doctrine 1: God pays precise and special attention to all the sins and abominations of a people in covenant with Him.Doctrine 2: These sins and abominations provoke Him to express His anger in terrifying threats.>After covering these main parts to the treatise, he asks, but how, or by what means may the work of reformation be carried on, both in public and private, in Church and State, in our hearts and houses? He answers this with various motives and helps in the means which God has blessed his people. To be humbled for previous failures, to reflect on our vows to God, to be more involved in reformation in our church and family, to focus on unity for the cause of God and the Gospel, and to cultivate a heart ignited with a burning love for Christ and a passionate zeal for His honor and the advancement of the work of Reformation.

"Using the writings of Martin Luther, Michael T. Fieberkorn opens the vice and virtue tradition to the Lutheran audience. Part 1 discusses how Luther reframes vices as unbelief and virtue as part of the Christian's new life in Christ. Part 2 explores the relationship between vice, virtue, and the Ten Commandments and how it plays out in the life of a Christian"--

It was unthinkable that I would sit down to write about signs and wonders before 2008. The reason for this is that I didn't believe in any manifested signs and marvels to begin with. I was invited to a David Herzog conference as a pastor in Litchfield, Illinois. Come on, they said, there will be gold dust at the meeting. What is that for, I responded? I told them I didn't want gold dust from God; I wanted something concrete. I had no idea that gold dust was a gift from God. In God's Presence, I've had some of the most amazing occasions. I've seen and been a wonder and a sign. It feels like a dream since God has displayed His magnificent marvels to and through me so many times. Gold dust, multicolored dust, gold flakes, gold nuggets, feathers, glory clouds, misting rain, gemstones, diamonds, mounted rings, and more are all available. Some of the strangest but actual indications of God's Glory can be seen. Some preachers who have witnessed signs and miracles have told me that we were really fortunate to witness everything we have. When there were only a few people present, God moved more in these kinds of manifestations. It was due to the fact that we were all on the same page. It is by pressing together in oneness for God that He is glorified, and His miracles and wonders are released. We'll feature full-color photos of miracles and signs that have occurred since 2008. We believe it, and we hope you do as well. Anything is possible in God's Glory. It was God's will for me to speak this here. You'll see signs and wonders if you read this book, and you'll be right.
Revelation is an absolute must, for head knowledge is different from heart knowledge. In this book, Z.T. Fomum shows us how to cooperate with God and his Holy Spirit to have a revelation of the aspects of his Word that we have understood intellectually. It is through revelation that we can experience the truths of God's Word in our lives. The author expressly states that this book was written to convert Bible truth into effective spiritual experience. If revelation is given by grace, however, it requires that man should cooperate with God by obeying the heavenly vision.Man also cooperates with God by an active spiritual life and edifying teachings. This book is an indispensable read. The author has expressed it in the title: Revelation - A Must!
