What does it mean to live contentedly before God? In The Rare Jewel of Christian Contentment, beloved English Puritan pastor Jeremiah Burroughs presents a biblical framework for answering this enduring question. First published in 1648, Burroughs' practical theology of contentment serves up timeless wisdom for Christians wrestling with discontentment, covetousness, anxiety and envy.Structured across nearly a dozen sermons, Burroughs mines Scripture to excavate the true nature of contentment. He demonstrates that it transcends earthly fortunes and material possessions alone. Rather, the "self-sufficiency" furnished by communion with Christ Himself becomes the fountainhead that quenches thirsts no tangible thing can satisfy. Burroughs uncovers domino effects triggered when the soul anchors itself steadfastly in God rather than chasing elusive worldly substitutes. With intricate reasoning influenced by his theological mentor William Ames, Burroughs provides correctives to misunderstandings that hinder contentment. He clarifies that divine contentedness does not breed idleness or excuse wholesome betterment of one's station in life. On the contrary, souls filled with God's presence shine His image most purely. They turn reliance on Christ alone into catalysts empowering diligence, wisdom and stewardship for blessing others despite lingering uncertainties externally.Across centuries, The Rare Jewel of Christian Contentment has won sustained appreciation from luminous thought leaders like Richard Baxter, John Owen, Charles Spurgeon and Martyn Lloyd-Jones. By returning adrift souls to first things in the ever-flowing fountain of life, Burroughs kindles embers of early Protestant vigor ready to warm postmodern hearts chilled by more recent winds of doctrine.

In today's society, many believers have become indoctrinated by evil, narcissistic leaders. Believers must be able to identify these impostors.Operation Rescue is a mission totally inspired by The Holy Spirit. It speaks to the fact that within what is supposed to be "the church of God," there are many leaders who are neither chosen nor called to be leaders, yet they have wormed themselves in and are entrusted with leadership positions, to the disadvantage of believers. Servant of the Lord PJ Adair, calls upon sincere and true leaders to remain steadfast, resilient, and unmovable, refusing to be misled or brainwashed by false leaders with hidden agendas. She encourages believers to offer spiritual sacrifices acceptable to God; to be vigilant, always on guard; and to abide in the Word, testing the spirits to see if they are of God.Adair sites examples of unfavorable scenarios currently existing within some churches and presents biblical directives on how to overcome them. God-fearing leaders are challenged to embark on the greatest rescue mission of all time, being unwavering and steadfast as the prophets of old, in a bid to rescue those in imminent danger, who remain unaware of their fate as a result of false teaching.
Some stories just beg to be told! This account is the true love story of a couple who commissioned a work of Christian art and a celebration of their journey of faith through grief and loss.Art is usually sufficient visual language for storytelling. As an artist, painting or sculpting satisfies my desire for creative expression. I only put down my brush when I sense that the work is somewhat complete-definitely not perfect, merely that the art has articulated some of the fuzzy intentions of my imagination. But not this time. David and Rachel's account of victory over grief needed words in addition to the art. Only words could express the nuances of their journey after they both lost their spouses unexpectedly. Their paths through the wilderness of grief begged to be shared even more than the details of their commissioned painting, which is also expressed in this book. The real names of the flesh and blood cast of this romance were changed to respect their privacy, but that in no way diminishes the truth of this account. What would you do if you lost the love of your life after 25 precious years of marriage? When grief threatens to overwhelm how do you overcome? This book is for you ifyou know Jesus is the Comforter, but can't imagine how He works in the depths of grief.you love art and true accounts about how contemporary Christian artists are used for His purposes.you are a Christian, strengthened by testimonies of victory over darkness.you are held captive by depression, grief or sadness and are searching for hope.Told from my perspective as an artist and in David's (my client) own words from journal entries, this raw account of grappling with and overcoming grief is a compelling narrative. As a true story, it offers an uncommon glimpse of the depths of the human spirit, reaching for Jesus Christ in helplessness, to find Him completely faithful as Savior and Redeemer. The power of this account is not because of miraculous or supernatural happenings. Those, while entertaining, merely titillate the senses, rarely encouraging steadfast faith in the face of great loss. In the mundane, plodding way of life the supernatural is not the norm, ordinariness is.David and Rachel's triumph came through the seemingly inconsequential, but extremely difficult, act of taking God at His word and trusting in His intention of good for them, despite the tragedy that had visited them.As Christians we are strengthened by true stories of overcoming difficulty by faith. What God has done for another, He promises to do for each of us, if we respond in faith. He is unchanging. From generation to generation, He remains steadfast. Remembering His ways through testimonies is a powerful way to build faith and to overcome the struggles of life.If you are trapped in a night season, may David and Rachel's account impart hope to win your own victory from any kind of loss to attain the blessing of joy! Impossible, you think? Not after you read their story!

This writing started out as a simple desire to write a person's story of her life experiences based on her testimony. My inspiration evolved into a testimonial for God--seeing how God would move on our behalf to orchestrate events in our lives, working through the people we know or don't know to bring those events to pass.Orchestration of miracles is a specialty of God's. He's been doing it since the beginning. He orchestrated us having a Savior to bring to us salvation and eternal life through our faith in Him, our Lord Jesus Christ. I've learned that God has already orchestrated many blessings, directions, or actions we're to take in our lives in the heavenly realm that only need to be brought to the natural. We bring things to the natural by faith through prayer, through our taking action on our dreams, and through obeying what we know God has spoken to us to do, and especially if it is on our hearts to do something for someone else.So what is my opinion about cremation after my experience? I was reminded that God is the greatest Orchestrator of all time. Only He could have arranged the events that I have documented in this writing.

Press On Regardless comes from the heart of a man who experienced brokenness and struggled to recover. His painful journey of recovery was one with challenges and setbacks. In Press On Regardless, Gary Taylor shares that his greatest source of strength during his recovery was the Bible. He held on to Psalm 147:3 "He heals the brokenhearted and binds up their wounds," and Jeremiah 30:17 "I will restore your health and heal your wounds." In his brokenness Gary knew God would not leave him broken, and that he could trust God with his future. Now Gary Taylor wants to share with anyone struggling with brokenness that there is hope.Often when we are hurting we feel hopeless, and that only compounds the pain. Proverbs 13:12 says, "Hope deferred makes the heart sick." Gary stresses as long as you have hope you will survive. Each chapter of Press On Regardless is filled with scriptures that give life, hope, and healing. As you read each chapter let it speak to you, and give you hope for your journey to recovery.Gary Taylor's prayer for everyone who reads Press On Regardless is Romans 15:13 "May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace as you trust in him, so that you may overflow with hope by the power of the Holy Spirit."

It's a clear and effective guide for embracing God's will throughout one's journey, and it begins with a firm foundation in Christ-the One who implants desires in individual hearts. The author intertwines Scripture with personal experiences to demonstrate how God works everything into His plan for good. As you immerse yourself in the "Path of Assurance," you will discover how God weaves the details of life into His will...no matter which road you take.
Ezekiel's Challenge for Today's ChurchIn the 6th century BC, the prophet Ezekiel called the people of Judah to return to their God. Despite having been redeemed from slavery and enjoying unique status as God's chosen people, the Israelites had been drifting for generations, gradually losing their conviction and sensitivity to the word of the Lord.If this sounds familiar, it should. There are multiple parallels and indications that the modern church has capitulated to worldly thinking and worldly living. Ezekiel sounded the trumpet, boldly summoning God's people to covenant faithfulness and obedience. What about you and me? Will we heed the trumpet call?
