This book, by Z.T. Fomum, highlights one of the Biblical models that made God her Eternal Bliss.Anna the prophetess, after having known gratification from natural pleasures and desires, chose neither withdrawal, seclusion, the temple, nor a life of prayer and fasting. Instead, she chose God! God was her only Choice. Living in total seclusion, she happily accepted everything that accompanied her only choice. She withdrew in an attempt to give Him endless praise night and day without distraction, from a life of worship. This book is a cry from the heart of the author to raise in our generation many "Annas", lovers serving out of love and not servants who will do many things for Him out of duty.Read this book and get yourself enlisted into the army of secluded worshippers.

Grace Came in the Mourning came to life through the grief of a young newly found widow who, in the midst of her darkness, God revealed himself to her in such a great and mighty way that He lifted her out of the pit of despair and saved her soul. God inspired her to share her life story leading up to the traumatic sudden loss of her sweet, loving husband to the moment God poured an abundance of grace all over her.
I have shared numerous devotionals on Facebook over the last five years. Most were biblically based, and others were reflections on life or humorous stories from my youth. Many of those were published earlier in "The Rainbow Book: A Collection of Facebook Devotionals." This book isa companion work. This house and barn were built about 1925, and my grandparents moved here in 1932. Following their deaths, my uncle and aunt lived here many years, and the house became the center of Voss family life. The old homeplace became my residence in 2017, and I cherish the opportunity to call it home.I am grateful to the many readers who have enjoyed these devotionals over the years and have commented on them. They have been a vital part of my writing work and interest. I am also especially grateful to Jeffery McClendon for his tireless work and meaningful contributions as an editor. Many of my earliest memories are associated with the house and barn. I was able to take pictures of both that seem to capture the essence of "the old homeplace" that is dear to so many relatives and friends. I hope you enjoy the pictures, and I also hope that the devotionals are a great blessing to you
Writing blogs for a small-town newspaper has led me to keep writing since my third husband passed away. The response from the readers has been encouraging and uplifting. The Lord gave me no peace until I wrote my first book There Were Three, and he has given me the thoughts and scriptures to author Petals of Love.Look for my work on Amazon.
Depression is a joy-sucking, peace-robbing illness, and it can strike anyone at any time. It is no respecter of gender, ethnicity, education, or socioeconomic status. It is also no respecter of religion. Christians can struggle with depression just like anyone and that is the demograhic targeted in this book. For too long the subject of depression in churches has been ignore. Or worse yet, churches adopt the same stigmas surrounding mental health. When is the last time you heard a sermon focusing on depression and the Christian? Even if it is addressed, there is still that unspoken idea that if you were really a good Christian you would be able to cure it yourself. Tell that to the great authors and scholars, Charles Spurgeon, John Piper, Beth Moore, John Ortberg. The list is long. Throughout history great men and women of God has struggled with this illness. It has nothing to do with a lack of faith. We are all wired differently and certainly our brains are. Also, past trauma hardwires our brain to respond in different ways and we might find ourselves more prone to depression and anxiety. How we think, our language, and our behavior all play a part in either causing an episode or contributing to it. Therefore, there are usually lifestyle changes that need to be examined. Sometimes medication is needed in the beginning so we can at least find the mental clarity to begin the hard work of battling their depression but it is not usually a long-term solution. This devotional supplies much needed help while a person is recovering from their depression. The sixty days provides insight into the illness with scripture verses and questions to help the reader begin their journey to wholeness. There are a number of appendices with additional "helps". You do not have to fight this battle alone and there is victory awaitng you. God is able to bring you to the other side of your illness and equip you to live a more joyful and fulfilling life. God bless you as you take this journey.
RIP. Rest in peace. Why is it that when a loved one passes away, the family and friends say, "Rest in peace?" Are the dead really in peace? The dead know nothing, so how could that person be in peace? So, what is the truth behind this saying? God makes it clear in His word where people go after they die. Is there such a thing as life after death, or is death the end of life? People have different opinions about this. People need to know the truth about where they will spend eternity when they die, and not just someone's opinion except the fact that no one wants to know the truth, and if they did know the truth, they would not tell the deceased person's family that their deceased loved one is spending eternity in hell and being tormented daily. Imagine this: You are at your loved one's funeral, and you say, "Rest in peace," and then someone says to you, "Why are you saying that? This person lived a life of wickedness, cheating, hurting people, lying to people, and stealing from people, and you say, 'Rest in peace.' Why should that person be in peace? What did they do to deserve peace? That person is going to hell, and in hell, there is no peace." Is this something you want to hear at a funeral? Too many people are being deceived by this saying only because it helps those who are hurting to clear their minds. Yes, granted, that person's body is dead, but are they dead? Or are they living beyond their grave? The spirit is very much alive. So once again, is that person resting in peace, or how would a person even know? What about you? Where would you spend eternity if you were to die right now? Read this book and find out. All knowledge of this book has been inspired by God and is backed up by the word of God in it.
''How long, O Lord?'' ''When will you answer my prayer?'' ''Why must I wait so long for your promise to be fulfilled?'' The Christian journey is not endless bliss with perfect relationships and an abundant financial portfolio. Perfection can only be found in Christ. Even though lovers of God experience fullness of life, they still face unexpected trials, unpredictable difficulties, and seemingly unsolvable problems. Every child of God will have a wilderness experience, but not everyone has to have a wilderness wandering.
What if we lived in a world of abundance? In the Beatitudes, Jesus offers nine sayings that move us beyond our first instincts and instead embrace the deeper reality of the kingdom of God. They name the illusions and false beliefs that have kept us chained and imprisoned. We've learned to live from a mentality of anxiety and greed, but what if a world of abundance with solace and comfort are actually near? We've learned to live by striving, competition, and comparison, but what if we all have equal dignity and worth? Mark Scandrette shows how the Beatitudes invite us into nine new postures for life. Instead of living in fear, we can choose radical love. It's often assumed that the good life is only for the most wealthy, attractive, and powerful. Poor, sad, and suffering people are left out. But the ninefold path of the Beatitudes is for everyone. Whatever your story, whatever your struggle, wherever you find yourself, this way is available to you.

Switchbacks: Travelling God's Zig-Zag Path to our Destination by David RoxHow do we expect God to work in our lives? We often think that God will move us along simple, straight paths. After all, the shortest distance between two points is a straight line. This saves time and distance. But God is rarely concerned or limited by time or distance. Our expectations of how God should be working in our lives are quite often unsupported by the life stories we find in scripture. We see it over and over again: God works in peoples' lives in indirect ways - in almost a "zig-zag" manner. It's like the switchbacks on a steep hiking trail. Join the author as we examine the life of several biblical characters to see how God moved in quite remarkable ways to bring people to a place of total trust and faith. Perhaps God wishes to work in our lives in the same way, no matter how unpredictable and uncertain things may seem!

Book Description: The Bible is an amazing book by any standard. It's a big book that many of us will ever think about reading. This one volume contains sixty-six different books penned by at least forty authors over a span of nearly 1500 years. Despite its intimidating size, the Bible remains the best-selling book in the world. But the Bible has a problem-there are far more Bible owners than Bible readers! Lots of Bibles are purchased, far fewer are read, and far fewer than that are understood! For too many, the Bible is a confusing book. It is confusing to both strangers and veterans. In Navigating the Bible: Reading Without Getting Lost, Dr. Will Thomas provides a roadmap to the Bible that promises to help the experienced Bible reader and the newcomer read without getting lost. He begins with the basics before moving to an overview of the library of books that form the New and Old Testaments_. Navigating the Bible_ explains that the Bible tells one story from beginning to end--the Story of God. Dr. Thomas explores the Big Story that fills the Old Testament, then moves to the Story of Jesus before ending with the Coronation, bringing the Bible to a climactic conclusion. Dr. Thomas promises that with this roadmap in hand, Bible reading can become less confusing and more what the Lord intends it to be-informational, inspirational, and transformation. Enjoy the journey!
I became a tortoise teacher. I stuck my head out of my room when my class entered my classroom and when they exited my classroom. Otherwise, my classroom stayed locked. The young man's pants were ripped from A to Z. He sat in front of me and refused to close his legs. God wanted me to tell the world that Mississippi White educators were no longer solely responsible for the inadequate education that poor Black students received. He wanted the world to know that African American educators and administrators had failed to properly educate and discipline His children. And, He wanted the world to know that sound education is not dependent upon dollars but upon dedication.
