If you are a religious believer, have you ever had doubts about your religious faith? Have you found yourself questioning your faith sometimes and finding yourself unable to let go of such questions? Have you found responses by others to your questions to be dissatisfying? Then, please consider reading Faith In Doubt. If you're unsure, ask yourself: would you prefer to live your life with honesty and integrity or would you instead prefer to possibly keep living a lie because questioning your faith feels uncomfortable to you? This book is the completion of a four-year project that attempts to critique religion using a multifaceted approach. It is broken up into Two Parts. In the first portion of this book is a critique of the general issues of religion by using cognitive and social psychology, logical fallacies, a Nietzschean philosophical perspective on different aspects of religion, and relevant Political Science subjects pertaining to religion. Part II consists of his refutation of the theological concept of Original Sin and critiques of each of the major world religions through diverse approaches specifically made for each religion: all religions contain different internal structures within their theology and therefore different approaches are needed. Faith in Doubt challenges the historical record of Judaism and its impact on contemporary Jewish societies across the world. He critiques Christianity through a similar approach as Part I. He examines and repudiates Islamic theology by exposing the fallacies of its theological conceptualization of the world and the dangers that it poses to the West's Enlightenment values, to the progress made by Feminism, and to Secular Republics from the US to India. Lastly, the two major Dharmic faiths are explored and why they need either reform or rejection. The original intent of Faith in Doubt was to critique religions between their positive and negative aspects, but because of the findings of four years of research and the chief concern for human rights, the author had a change of heart and advocates for Anti-theism out of sincere concern for the human rights of Ex-Muslims, Transgender people, and women across the world.
YOUR JOURNEY TO INNER WELLBEING AND WELLNESSThe spiritual life is a life of total dedication and commitment, and only those who devote themselves to it becomes fulfilled in life. This is a book 'How to Find Happiness, ' will show you how to find happiness in life, and this happiness can only be found in the hearts of men. Many are looking for happiness in all the wrong places hence they are not happy because happiness cannot be found in material acquisition. It is achieved by knowing God and forming a closer walk with Him. Jesus made a statement He said the kingdom of God is within you. Everything that would make you happy is in the inside of you and the only way to realize it is to be still and know that God is God.From time immemorial, man has always sorted for fulfilment in people, places and things, and this has led to immense crisis and conflict in his life. In fact, God-consciousness leads to a life of joy and peace (happiness hypothesis). Many are looking for peace in this ephemeral world which indeed has not really helped at all. In fact, it has left man disillusioned and despondent in life (happiness a history). God made man in His image and likeness and everything man needs to make him completely fulfilled is deposited in him. For the most part, man is predominantly a spiritual being than physical (happiness a novel). His fulfilment comes from knowing God and if this is not done, it leaves man in a very deplorable state.Life itself is a journey and it is a spiritual journey which must be undertaken individually (happiness a history). This journey is an inward one that leads to true happiness and peace of mind. Peace comes from God and when we do those things that please Him, He gives us that peace that passes all human understanding. Righteousness is the road that leads to the peace of God and when we live according to the word of God, He invests us with profound joy and happiness. Sin leads to misery and disease and it causes conflict in our lives (happiness book for women). A man who lives after the flesh cannot be fulfilled. God wants us to be happy, but we must do what pleases Him. God is a holy God and they that seek Him must seek Him in spirit, and in truth and regulate their life to walk according to His commandments. Our total devotion to God will cause us to walk in power and in boldness. When we don't have a closer relationship with God, it leads to fear and fear leads to all kinds of problems that affect the way we lead our lives. When we love God, it removes fear and gives us boldness to relate with the world and accomplish what God has ordained for us to achieve. God is the essence of life and when we truly know Him, we become fulfilled. The purpose of this book is to show you the way to achieving true happiness that has eluded countless people the world over. When you read this book with great spiritual devotion, you will truly be happy in life (happiness book). In fact, God wants you to be happy, but you must take all the necessary steps to achieve that happiness. The journey of a thousand miles begins with a step and God bless you as you undertake this inner journey to self-fulfilment (happiness a memoir the crooked little road to semi-ever after).
THE KIND OF FAITH THAT BRINGS RESULT, APPLY FAITH PRINCIPLES AND SEE THINGS BEGIN TO TURN AROUND FOR YOU.The power of walking by faith is a book that every Christian needs to read to be victorious and receive every promise the Lord has given to us. Faith is an ingredient that should be a part of our lives to be champions for God. God wants us to walk with Him by faith and be able to please Him because without faith, it is impossible to please God nor receive anything from Him. Many today are walking by sight and they go by what they see and feel, hence they are not walking in the provision and abundance of God. Faith is the key to our receiving breakthroughs in this life. If you go by what you see and feel, the devil and his demons will make a fool of you and torment your life. When we don't walk by faith, then we walk by fear and that is the greatest tool of the devil to paralyze one and make one's life miserable. God wants us not to walk in fear but to walk in power, in love and in sound mind. When fear comes into one's mind, one becomes confused and one begins to do the devil's bidding. The mind is a powerful tool the good Lord has given to us and if we allow the devil to control it, he will only unleash misery unto us and cause us to be depressed. One thing the devil will put in your mind if he can gain access into it is fear and with that fear, he will hinder you completely in life and make you not to be what God has intended you to be. The spirit of fear is what is stopping many people today from achieving things in life- be it in marriage, job, business, ministry or what have you. Fear can also lead one into poverty and lack because one is afraid to pay one's tithe and give unto the Lord. The devil will always suggest things to you and cause you not to obey the voice of God and walk in His abundance, and then stop you from connecting to God's source of supply. With this book, you will tap in into the riches of God and walk boldly by faith and claim what God says is yours. When we walk by faith, we possess everything we desire from God. In short, everything we need for our lives first exists in the spirit realm, and we must by faith call it forth into the physical manifestation. If we walk by sight, we will not be able to accomplish much in life but by faith in God, nothing can be impossible for us. Walking by faith is awesome and it makes you continue to walk in God's inexhaustible provision and have what you desire in life. My prayer for you as you read this book is that fear will be eliminated from your life, and you will begin to walk by faith and please God and receive from Him, and make your life very rewarding and fulfilling. This book will empower and motivate you and cause you to be a champion for God and live a happy and fulfilling life right here on earth. God bless you as you begin your spiritual journey into the arena of faith.
Anti-Theist: And This Is Why is an introductory look into atheism/anti-theism and uses quotes, scriptures and a dash of humor to help the nonbeliever and believer alike understand what it is to be a person who is against religion. I give the reader a clear understanding of the differences between a theist, deist, atheist, agnostic, and an anti-theist then I discuss numerous topics including the treatment of women in religion, the sheer ridiculousness of the ancient text these belief systems are based on and the charlatans who use it as a weapon to prey on the weak and helpless.I realize the term 'Anti-Theist' and the idea of forbidding someone from practicing and teaching a religion sounds so very horrible but you've got to ask yourself the question why. Why would all of us atheist nutbags, and our numbers are growing, want to take God out of your courthouses, off your money, ban it from public practice or display and, heaven forbid, ban you from teaching it to your children? Why would someone want to do that? Read the book and find out.If you're a religious person you could see this as a 'Know thy enemy' moment. Study up on us devil worshiping, baby eating anti-theists and see why we think you're the crazy ones. Mmmm baby. Thank you and enjoy.Caution: Grown up concepts and there is a bit of adult language.chrismallard101@gmail.comhttps: //www.facebook.com/christopher10
In Lloyd M. Graham's study, he writes that his uncovering of these deceptions and myths will help everyone acquire sufficient enlightenment and knowledge to discover what is false.
For as long as the idea of "miracles" has been in the public sphere, the conversation about them has been shaped exclusively by religious apologists and Christian leaders. The definitions for what a miracles are have been forged by the same men who fought hard to promote their own beliefs as fitting under that umbrella. It's time for a change.Enter John W. Loftus, an atheist author who has earned three master's degrees from Lincoln Christian Seminary and Trinity Evangelical Divinity School. Loftus, a former student of noted Christian apologist William Lane Craig, got some of the biggest names in the field to contribute to this book, which represents a critical analysis of the very idea of miracles.Incorporating his own thoughts along with those of noted academics, philosophers, and theologians, Loftus is able to properly define "miracle" and then show why there's no reason to believe such a thing even exists.Addressing every single issue that touches on miracles in a thorough and academic manner, this compilation represents the most extensive look at the phenomenon ever displayed through the lens of an ardent nonbeliever. If you've ever wondered exactly what a miracle is, or doubted whether they exist, then this book is for you.
To most people on the planet, the existence of Jesus is a given: "Of course he did!" They take it for granted that he existed simply because it reaffirms their faith. But to the rest of us who don't believe in a supernatural Jesus, the question of the historicity of Jesus is not simple. There are thousands of different ideas about to what extent the Jesus tales were based on a real man, or men, or woman... Did Jesus even exist, and if not, what best explains the rise of such a character in the New Testament? That is where John W. Loftus and Robert M. Price come in. Each with decades of experience in the fields of theology and Christian history, Loftus and Price have compiled essays from some of the top authorities on Jesus mythicism to establish the world's first academic catalogue of mythicist beliefs. Experts who provided chapters include David Fitzgerald, Joseph Atwill, Michael Lockwood, and more! The question is no longer simply, "Did Jesus even exist?" In this compilation, you'll find yourself questioning everything about the Christ story and how it truly began.
Disproving Christianity and Other Secular Writings compiles popular and lesserknown arguments against the principles established by the Christian canon.Using a phenomenological approach to build his case based on indepth study at the University of California, Santa Barbara, McAfee analyzes the Hebrew Scriptures and New Testament doctrine to build a logical and reasonable case against their validity. From contradictions between lived and portrayed religions to factual errors within the texts themselves, no stone is left unturned in this fully updated and expanded refutation of Christianity.
One night, during a bedtime read of The Lion, The Witch and The Wardrobe, Bitsy asked, "Is Aslan evil?" This innocent question led to many bedtimedelaying discussions about life, morality, and biblical fundamentalism. In her book, Bedtime with Bitsy: A Critical Read of the Chronicles of Narnia, Alexis Record applies the deconstruction skills she learned in her journey out of faith to C. S. Lewis' Christian allegories for children. Follow Alexis and Bitsy as they discuss the magical world of Narnia through the critical eyes of a very curious 9yearold.
This volume looks at the secular state in the context of contemporary Asia and investigates whether there existed before modernity antecedents to the condition of secularity, understood as the differentiation of the sphere of the religious from other spheres of social life. The chapters presented in this book examine this issue in national contexts by looking at the historical formation of lexicons that defined the "secular", the "secular state," and "secularism". This approach requires paying attention to modern vernacular languages and their precedents in written traditions with often a very long tradition. This book presents three interpretive frameworks: multiple modernities, variety of secularisms, and typologies of post-colonial secular states.
The great Romantic poet Percy Bysshe Shelley (1792-1822), best known for such masterpieces as "Ode to the West Wind" and "Prometheus Unbound," also expressed his ideas on religious oppression in works of impassioned prose. The Necessity of Atheism and Other Essays features five anti-religious tracts by Shelley: "On Christianity," "The Necessity of Atheism" (which resulted in the youthful Shelley's expulsion from Oxford in 1811), "On Life," "On a Future State," and "A Refutation of Deism." Like his great poems, these works extol the spirit of mankind and argue that Christianity, with its repressive belief system, is wholly out of keeping with human ideals and aspirations.A philosopher as well as a poet, Shelley argues that the divine attributes of God are merely projections of human powers; life everlasting cannot be empirically demonstrated, for it runs counter to all the evidence for mortality given by the natural world, which is the only world we know.During his brief life, Shelley affronted the armies of Christendom with a single-minded purpose. As Shelley observes in his dialogue "A Refutation of Deism," there can be no middle ground between accepting revealed religion and disbelieving in the existence of a deity - another way of stating the necessity of atheism. In all, these essays provide an important statement of the poet and freethinker's enlightened views on skepticism, faith, and the corruption of organized Christianity
In ATHEISM, Cyrus attempts to explore what itmeans to be an atheist. On the path to understandingatheism, Cyrus examines the meaning of selfhoodand awareness through poetry. He discovers the pathto enlightenment starts from within and is aided withthe knowledge of what lies without. Cyrus discoversthat atheism is an evolving process best observedthrough empathy, affection, honesty and moral/ethical integrity. He realizes the journey to becomean atheist is an individual effort to transcend oneselfand aim for enlightenment.
The enigmatic relation between religion and science still presents a challenge to European societies and to ideas about what it means to be 'modern.' This book argues that European secularism, rather than pushing back religious truth claims, in fact has been religiously productive itself. The institutional establishment of new disciplines in the nineteenth century, such as religious studies, anthropology, psychology, classical studies, and the study of various religious traditions, led to a professionalization of knowledge about religion that in turn attributed new meanings to religion. This attribution of meaning resulted in the emergence of new religious identities and practices. In a dynamic that is closely linked to this discursive change, the natural sciences adopted religious and metaphysical claims and integrated them in their framework of meaning, resulting in a special form of scientific religiosity that has gained much influence in the twentieth century. Applying methods that come from historical discourse analysis, the book demonstrates that religious semantics have been reconfigured in the secular sciences. Ultimately, the scientification of religion perpetuated religious truth claims under conditions of secularism.
Explores the way atheism has evolved, deepened, matured, and gained unprecedented resonance and popularity as it has sought to replace an unknowable God in the afterlife with the voluptuous detail and warmth of this life, woven into art, philosophy, science, and a rational, secular morality.
