Zum einen zeigt sich hier erneut die Aktualität der von Simmel im Jahre 1908 verfassten Überlegungen, zum anderen kann mit Simmels Hilfe eine soziologische Antwort auf die Frage gegeben werden, inwiefern eine individuelle Auffassung von Spielpositionen im Fußball mit der relativen Weite sozialer Kreise und dessen Nutzung durch Transfers in Verbindung steht. Eine Veränderung des Transferverhaltens korreliert zum einen mit der Ausweitung sozialer Kreise, welche durch die ¿Globalisierung¿ begründet ist, und führt zum anderen zu systematisch vorgegebenen differenzierten Rollenentwicklungen von Spielpositionen.Wechselwirkungen zwischen der Erweiterung der Gruppe und der Ausbildung der Individualität führen nach Simmel nicht nur zu einer Individualisierung sozialen Handelns, sondern ebenfalls zu einer Individualisierung der Persönlichkeit des entsprechenden Subjekts. Angestoßen wird dieser Individualisierungsprozess nicht ausgehend von Subjektseite, sondern durch die Erweiterung des sozialen Kreises. Das Maß der Individualisierung, basierend auf Differenzierung, entspricht oder folgt dem Maß des sich erweiternden Kreises - die Ausweitung der Gruppe geht also der Individualisierung des Subjekts voran und lässt diese erst im Verhältnis zu anderen Subjekten der ursprünglichen kleineren Gruppe ersichtlich werden, zeigt sich aber auch im Verhältnis zu Subjekten des Erweiterten. Simmel zeigt diesen Anstoß und die folgenden Wechselwirkungen einleuchtend am Beispiel des historischen Entwicklungsprozesses der Zünfte. Ein Differenzierungsprozess, unter dem Simmel die Prozesse der Rollendifferenzierung, Funktionsdifferenzierung und Arbeitsteilung auf sozialer Ebene versteht, schafft vertikale Hierarchien innerhalb einer bis dahin auf Gleichheit ausgelegten Gruppe. Diese geschaffenen Hierarchien bedingen folgend weitere Individualisierungs- und Spezialisierungsprozesse auf Ebene der Subjekte, welche mit wachsendem Kreis parallel verlaufen zu scheinen. ¿Je größer die Gruppe, desto höher ist die Wahrscheinlichkeit, dass sich innerhalb der Großgruppe kleinere Kreise herausbilden.¿
