A three-year-old little boy pleads with his mommy to let him take a ride in a pull-wagon with his aunt to buy some chewing gum. Her gut reaction is to keep him close, but she gives in to her excited little baby's need for adventure. That reaction moment will become the result of an applied force resulting in great tragedy. Taking a short cut home through a construction site, happily trying to catch butterflies from his wagon, the little boy, unbeknown to his aunt, catches sight of a big, blue, butterfly and spontaneously jumps out to catch it. The aunt swings around and sees a car heading in the boy's path. What happens after that is unspeakable. About the AuthorTonia Marie Root, was born in Lansing Michigan. 2017 Reprint of 1855 Edition. Written by a Pennsylvania Dutch healer in 1820 in German, this book is a rambling collection of rural home remedies and folk invocations. Pow-wow is a unique creole of Christian theology and a shamanistic belief system. It is still practiced in some rural areas of Pennsylvania. In spite of the name, it is not of Native American derivation. It is believed to have been brought over to America by German immigrants who practiced folk-magic. It was not translated into English until 1855. This edition is based on the English translation of 1855.This little book includes healing spells, binding spells, protective spells, talismans, wards and benedictions. The text is also of historical interest, as it paints a vivid picture of the miseries of rural American life in the early nineteenth century. The original is very rare.
The inspiration for the book Precious Memories is to preserve the legacy of our beloved family members, in particular, family members who have been diagnosed with dementia and/or Alzheimer's disease. Often times, family members pass on and we have never taken the time to really get to know their history, beliefs, thoughts, interests, talents, desires, etc. For example, recipes for our favorite foods or meals, and we never took the time to get the recipes to pass on to the next generation of family members. Precious Memories is also a wonderful way to interact and bond with family members on another level, especially with our patriarchs and matriarchs for our families, to explore interesting facts and to better understand and confirm our familial relationships.

The word "caregiver" typically suggests someone doing all the giving for a frail, physically challenged, or aging person, who is doing all the receiving. Marty Richards proposes a rebalanced approach of "caresharing." From this perspective, the "cared for" and the "carer" share a deep sense of connection. Each has strengths and resources. Each can teach the other. Each can share in grief, hope, wisdom and forgiveness. The book''s focus is to help caregivers realise that they are not alone in their journey. Richards broadens the scope of the give-and-take relationship to include multigenerational families and faith communities, looking at the strengths each has to offer in the caregiving network. In order to keep the spirit alive, Richards offers a mulitlayered, reciprocal process: ·The Dance of Sharing Care ·Sharing Wisdom: What the Frail Teach the Well ·Sharing Roles: Reinventing Family Roles in Sharing Care ·Sharing "Soul to Soul":  A Special Relationship with People with Dementia ·Sharing Grief: Dealing with the Little Losses and the Big Ones ·Sharing Forgiveness: A Key Spiritual Journey ·Sharing Hope and Heart: An Active Process One Step at a Time
