Math really is for everyone-so let's prove it.You've heard it from kids, from friends, and from celebrities: "I'm bad at math." It's a line that society tends to accept without examination-after all, some people just aren't "math people," right?Wrong. As we do with other essential skills, we need to expose the stereotypes, challenge the negative mindsets, and finally confront the systemic opportunity gaps in math education, and replace them with a new vision for what math is, who it's for, and who can excel at it. In this book you'll find Research on teacher and student mindsets and their effect on student achievement Audience-specific and differentiated tools, reflection questions, and suggested actions for educators at all levels of the system Examples from popular media, as well as personal stories and anecdotes Quotes, data-driven figures, and suggestions for deeper learning on all aspects of a positive and equitable vision of math educationBoth social commentary and a toolkit of solutions, this bold new book directly challenges the constructs that have historically dictated our perceptions of what makes someone a "math person". Only by dismantling those misplaced assumptions can we reform math education so it works for everyone. Because in truth, we are all math people.
Written by an expert author team with over 50 years' combined classroom experience, Busy Ant Maths is a flexible, whole-school mathematics programme that ensures conceptual understanding and mathematical fluency from the start.
"Goldilocks and the Three Bears" is a popular British folktale. The three bears living in a forest had a surprise visitor who had eaten their porridge! Find out how Goldilocks, a young girl in Britain, went into the Three Bears' Cottage and gave a surprise to herself and the three bears! Count from 1 to 3 and learn the stable principle that it does not matter how the three objects are arranged, the number stays the same. "Goldilocks and the Three Bears" is the first of the three books in the first series of the CAMathories¿ Folktale Mathematics¿ curriculum (3-4 years old). Series 1: Count and Recite 1 to 5. Two other books in the same series are: "Paco and the Giant Chili Plant" (from Mexico), and "5 Little Monkeys Catching the Moon" (from China). This series helps readers to develop an awareness of the principle of 'order irrelevance' - we can count things in any order but the number stays the same.CAMathories¿ Folktale Mathematics¿ Series books are fun math-learning folktales designed, written, and peer-reviewed by renowned (current and previous) researchers and faculty members of mathematics and early years learning from the University of Cambridge.

"Despite experiencing our teaching in different times, we are both oriented to traditional math teaching. It wasn't because we were both taught that way, as some may believe, but because that method worked for us and we have seen it work for our students. It is efficient, effective, non-confusing and helped our students develop mathematical reasoning, understanding, and confidence. Most importantly it helped them to be successful." So begins the book on traditional math, which provides a glimpse of what explicit instruction looks like in the classroom for grades K through 8. Barry Garelick and J.R. Wilson are retired math teachers who describe the methods of traditionally taught math that they used in their teaching. Their descriptions serve two purposes: 1) It provides assurance to teachers who may already practice these methods that they are not alone, and 2) For others, it may provide some new ideas.

This textbook, now in its second revised and extended edition, presents the fundamental ideas and results of both probability theory and statistics. It comprises the material of a one-year course, which is addressed to students of mathematics and to scientists with an interest in the mathematical side of stochastics. The stochastic concepts, models and methods are motivated by examples and then developed and analysed systematically. Some measure theory is included, but this is done at an elementary level that is in accordance with the introductory character of the book. A large number of problems, now in part with solutions, offer applications and supplements to the text.
