Bag om Cardiovascular Health and You
It is easy to forget that you have a heart; most people are only going to have one in their lifetime. It sits there day and night beating away pumping blood to all parts of your body, never getting a rest. In its work, it takes blood deplete of oxygen and circulates through the heart to the lungs, where it picks up oxygen, and then back to the heart. This refreshed blood goes back out to the body to supply your cells with all the oxygen and nutrients they need. Sadly, in many people this process can be interrupted if they have heart problems - and most of them can be prevented or even reduced by making changes in their health habits (lifestyle). There are many ways that you can help your heart to be healthier. The most important things are diet and exercise. But even beyond that you need to make sure that you keep your stress levels low, get plenty of sleep, and keep harmful substances such as tobacco and illicit drugs away from your body. Your heart is a very complicated organ, but taking care of it can be very simple. Not doing so can be deadly! In my book "Cardiovascular Health And You?" we discuss common heart problems, their causes and how you can help prevent or reverse their effects (before it is too late!).
