Bag om Colossians
The book of Colossians describes the supreme, all-sufficient Christ. Paul tells us there, in no uncertain terms, that Christ is all, all-in-all, everything. In this letter, we read of His diety: "For by him were all things created, that are in heaven, and that are in earth, visible and invisible, whether they be thrones, or dominions, or principalities, or powers: all things were created by him, and for him" (1:16). We also read of His glorious triumph over the powers of evil: "And having spoiled principalities and powers, he made a shew of them openly, triumphing over them in it" (2:15). Paul tells us, in Colossians, to live fully unto the Lord: "And whatsoever ye do, do it heartily, as to the Lord, and not unto men" (3:23). The study of Colossians is fun because there is so much "meat" in it. This book is a verse-by-verse commentary. Commentaries are so powerful because they take us from merely reading the Word to studying the Word. As we study and meditate on the Word of God, the Holy Spirit conforms us into the image of Christ. This is a study you'll want to read over and over again!
