Sunflower, the author's wife of now sixty years, appears midway through each lead-in. Sunflower is quite the fashionista and skilled in the culinary arts as well. Uncle Willy, who has an active social life while living on his Wisconsin farm, appears toward the end of each lead-in and plants the seed from which the subsequent story grows.
