Reese Hanson didn't want to move away from her friends and school in Florida. Her parents said they must for her father's job. Now she is stuck in rural Texas, friendless and lonely until a dirty, scruffy mutt appears on their doorstep. Despite her father's dire warnings that a dog like Dixie won't stay around, Reese decides to trust the dog with the floppy ears and beared face. She's glad she does because soon her family needs a miracle and Dixie proves she's up for the job.
