Euthanasia in Germany and Europe - Karl Martin - Bog

- Ethical, theological and legal reflection

Bag om Euthanasia in Germany and Europe

The book contains thoughts leading to the topic and an intensive terminological discussion of the definition problem. The differences in the respective type of euthanasia, whether voluntary or nonvoluntary euthanasia, or involuntary euthanasia, are shown. The defined differences between all forms of euthanasia, such as active euthanasia, which can be experienced directly or indirectly, as well as passive euthanasia or assisted suicide and finally palliative support, are also given a detailed explanation. A record is made of the diverging legal situation regarding active euthanasia in Europe based on selected countries. Furthermore, the illegitimacy of active euthanasia and the associated legal situation in Germany is discussed and, in comparison, the legitimacy of active euthanasia in France, as well as the BENELUX states of Belgium, the Netherlands and Luxembourg is presented. The arguments of philosophical supporters of active euthanasia are confronted with the statement of the church's position in the form of a reflection of those who are negative towards euthanasia and critically questioned. With new arguments against active euthanasia, the viability of the church's position is finally refounded.
