I have a friend, who once when we were discussing this subject, blurted out, "I think God hates Satan!" I very calmly replied, "Elmo, 'God is love.'" By quoting 1 John 4:16, I meant: God doesn't hate anyone, and he loves all of his creatures with unending and deeply felt passion for their well-being.
