The translations of the Holy Qur¿an are usually confined to literal or word-for-word substitution. The translators might not have analyzed both the Source Language (SL) and the Target Language (TL) in their linguistic and non-linguistic contexts: hence, the receptor of the Message is, after all, frustrated and in a state of confusion in comprehending the translated text of the Holy Qur¿an. A suitable approach to looking into the problems arising from the extraditions of so many translations of the Holy Qur¿an is a hermeneutic approach as this would give us the ability to compare how translators use their exegetical tools for comprehension and interpretation be they linguistic, cultural, conceptual, psychological, theological or spiritual. Hermeneutic approaches have been used in translation studies for a very long time.The Qur¿¿n has been translated into many languages by Muslim and non-Muslim scholars; there are several translations in many languages including English. However, the translations of the Holy Qur¿an into English are an extremely difficult endeavor because each translator must consult his/her opinion and aesthetic sense in trying to replicate shades of meaning.

Translating the Arabic Qur¿anic words into English at the word level has always been strenuous and immensely challenging. Being the most rhetorical text, the Arabic Quranic words operate with clear-cut intent and cannot be replaced by what may be reflected as the corresponding word. The recent book mainly casts new light on the (un)translatability phenomenon and the dilemma of translating the Arabic Qur¿anic words into English and investigates their rendition losses. Furthermore, the book purports to identify the apt translation procedures and methods manipulated in translating these Arabic Quranic words. The book also studies existing challenges, untranslatability dilemmas, and translation loss faced by Quran translators.

Obviously, an introductory book such as this has several obvious limitations. First, there are entire subbranches of morphology and syntax that are not included. In terms of content, this book delimits both its scope and audience by shedding new light on a subject whose problems and obscurities look inexhaustible. A colossal book of this kind is, therefore, an attempt to: ¿ Make morphology and syntax easier, which usually appear to be incredibly complicated, at first glance. ¿ Keep the standard high so that even postgraduate students can benefit from it; because we strongly believe that students learn best by'' doing'' exercises, and, to this end, we have added dozen of practice exercises. In general, these require more research or analysis beyond what can be accomplished within a single classroom period. These exploratory exercises can also form the basis for short papers. Therefore, the book can be of immense help not only to the students of linguistics and translation, but also to the professors of linguistics and translation and research supervisors as also advisors around the globe in particular.
