National Security Theory posits that the international strategic environment is harsh, uncertain, intolerant, and dangerous; consequently, it requires a deliberate and comprehensive strategy that includes all functional sectors of the state in order to generate the elements of national power necessary to achieve defense purposes. Methodologically, there are three motives that establish the general basis of National Security Theory and at the same time serve as basic drivers for the development of comprehensive concepts and ideas on the issue of multi-sectoral national security, defined as socio-strategic fragility, socio-strategic power, and socio-strategic defense. It is a conceptual system and an operational combination directed towards containing the primary roots of the multi-faceted threats.

Cognitive specialization needs four major elements: pioneers, method, theories, and field studies or interpretations to update its heritage from one period to another, in a way that makes it more capable of addressing the issues and topics raised in the field of research. The major methodological rule which all branches of social knowledge are based identified into science that directed first of all towards dealing with complex problems faced by groups and nations, developing methods of thinking, improving comprehend about phenomena, and enabling man to subjugate nature to serve his purposes and satisfy his needs. Dependently, the science of strategy is also directed in much of its heritage to serve the aforementioned goals and others, as it is part of the branches of social knowledge that specializes in a specific field related to organization of state, improving its capabilities for national survival, its ability to defend itself by itself, and facing the challenges posed from the external environment or emerging from its local environment.
