Dr Arambam Sanatomba Singh, Teacher-in-Charge, Nambol Higher Secondary School, Nambol, Manipur. The present study is a significant addition to the existing literature on the development of forests in Manipur. Its beauty lies in the fact that it is a well researched extension to the author¿s Ph.D. Thesis, Forest Economy of Manipur: Perspectives for Scientific Management, Manipur University (M.U.),2000 and his subsequent contributions to the IJAIR, the Indian Forester, Akansha publishing House, New Delhi, and the Eco-Club Bulletin of the W. Manihar Memorial Eco-Club cited above. Dr. Singh has devoted his life to the study of Forestry, Environment and Ecology for the benefit of the mankind. The book deals with policy measures for enhancing forest outputs by enlarging growing stock, introducing scientific methods of plantation and harvesting forest produces and fighting against damaging practices like shifting cultivation and wonton destruction of forest wealth by greedy contractors. It would be worth while to go through the entire text to extract the pure honey from immense hive of scientific policy actions mixed with hurdles in the way of their smooth implementation.
The book is a travelogue based on the author¿s experiences and knowledge gained during his cultural exchange trip for participating in the National Level Bal Rang Festival of Folk Dance-2017 at the Shyamla Hills, Bhopal, the Capital City of Madhya Pradesh, and sponsored by the Ministry of Human Resource Development, Government of India, New Delhi. In this Festival, there appeared 10,000 School Students from 550 Schools from 25 States and 6 Union Territories of the country. In fact, it is a colourful children¿s grand festival where the talented children showcasing their folk dance, art and culture of their own in a common platform with a view to strengthen cultural relations across varied geographies coalesce and to embolden the mutual connection between the people dwelling in different States and UTs of the country. The present treatise is being made with a view to inspire the young School children for Promotion of Arts Education in Schools of Manipur through their active participation; and to explore, understood and showcasing their living traditions of art; and to make aware of the importance of Arts Education in their future educational career.
