Who could have abducted two grown women in broad daylight in front of several witnesses? Mrs. Derksen really outdoes herself in this fourth installment. It is high adventure from start to finish, once again bringing to the forefront that we must trust God no matter how dark the day may seem. I highly recommend this book. An American detective in Miami is in it up to his eyeballs. God's favor is displayed and miraculously applied as the women are injured, kidnapped, sold, and prepared for transport, Andrea is spared the ultimate humility of defilement. In the meantime she is growing closer to God, begins to hear and recognize His voice and adds to her growing faith. Silence is an excellent and welcomed addition to the Wilton/Strait murder mystery series. I was glad to see Camilla and Troy get a family. I normally do not read murder mysteries but I was given this book to read and write a review on it. As I have already said, "WOW!" This book kept me so into it and the figures within the book were downright riveting. I could not read the darn thing fast enough. The religious parts of the book were handled in an excellent manner also. It gave me a good attitude about Jesus and I felt that was a major factor in the book. A very good written book. I am still not a murder mystery book lover but I am a Barbara Ann Derksen book reader. I do have the second book of the Finders Keepers series and will probably read the second book as fast as the first one. Lord have mercy. This was an excellent book to read. Evil pursues Christine, in this the second book of the Finders Keepers Mystery Series. Retreat is not an option but her move forward makes her vulnerable to the very evil that took her parents' lives. Faced with yet another missing child, she embarks on a search that takes her out of her comfort zone to question her chosen career, her abilities, and her belief system as she helps stricken parents find closure. Christine finds herself confused about her growing interest in Jeremy but she is distracted by the essence of evil that surrounds her. Editorial Review: This is the second book of the Finders Keepers series. It picks up where the first book ended and continues the adventures of Christine and Jeremy. Ms. Derksen does a great job of bringing together many seemingly unrelated events. The plat twists and turns like a Nascar race course, leaving the reader guessing at every corner. Barbara Ann is a master at integrating the characters faith in Jesus into the everyday matters. It is refreshing and the characters are so life like, it's amazing. There are some tough issues dealt with also - child abduction, pedophilia, sex trafficking, physical and mental abuse, and even cancer. Barbara Ann keeps it real, shows compassion, erupts in rage at atrocities, and shares the love of Jesus. Truly an incredible writer and a great book. It reaffirmed that it's OK to ask God for help in all scenarios that life reveals to you. The book centers around two main characters, Andrea and Brian. They are in love but God has yet to let them know. Business partners who grew up together and became private detectives, their adventure starts off with the struggle of adopting a child from a third world country. A murder investigation gets them a cruise and winds up in the middle of a horrid trafficking ring. I highly recommend this read. I l;earned that I can ask God for help throughout the day, every day. Review - Vanished begins with kidnapping and murder where the main characters, Andrea and Brian, follow what they hope leads to the whereabouts of the kidnapped victims - their best friends and young son. This adventure sends us off to Haiti, an island of hope, dreams, and beautiful landscapes as well as extensive poverty. It's here they stumble into the present day practice of Voodoo and an appreciation of the underworld life of the Caribbean Ocean - all the tropical fish, coral reefs, brilliant colors all with crystal clear visibility of pods of fish. The ease with which the author weaves her religious beliefs through the characters was very refreshing. DJ has been witnessing to Moon who has taken DJ into his confidence, sharing things about the Demons actions that could get him killed. We are taken into and given a brief view of the violent lifestyles of evil biker gangs, a life of drugs and murder along with extreme loyalty to one another, a loyalty if violated has severe consequences. Mrs. Derksen does a masterful job of creating characters who we fall in love with and she also builds strong relationships within the characters themselves. The storyline is wonderful, keeping the reader turning pages. She also turns skillful twists that keeps us all guessing to the very end, introducing subplots that link cleverly together with the main plot. The main characters are all born again Jesus followers and Mrs. Derksen tells boldly how relying on Him, through success or failure, always leads to peace.
