Long ago, Bryn tried to use a gemstone to focus his magic so he could stave off dark mages, who were threatening. Mid-spell, the tourmaline broke - into one green half and one pink half. Bryn finds he can use the green half, set in an amulet of his making, to enhance his power. The pink half responds to his wife, Paire, giving her more power as well. Using the Amulets of Power, they are able to defeat the dark mages and drive them back to wherever they came from. But the unintended consequence of Bryn's spell is the dividing magic into organic and elemental. Elemental mages can only use any of the four elements in their magic: fire, air, earth, and water. Organic mages only have the ability to work with anything organic. In present day, Sorcha, a young organic mage, and Aidan, a young elemental mage, have fallen in love. When they find out her father, Riordan, has been imprisoned for the past 15 years by the dark mage, Scanlan, they set off to rescue him. They are joined by fellow mages - both friends and family. None of them has ever used their magic in anger, but Aidan and Sorcha do think they have an advantage - their newly discovered ability to combine her organic magic with his elemental. But will it be enough to beat Scanlan? And what does it mean that they have this ability to combine their powers - something that has only cropped up twice since the days of Bryn and Paire? Is this 'old magic' or is 'old magic' something else entirely? And where in the world are the Amulets of Power Bryn and Paire used?

This book is the story of my life. My life reimagined. What if? What might have happened? How would things have been different? What path might my life have taken if I had made different choices than I did? What compromises would have been required? What happiness would have ensued? What would it be like to be married? Would I have had children? There are three parts. In one part, life doesn't work out quite as it does in the fairy tales. Quite the opposite. In the second part, life takes a happier road, though still with some trials and tribulations. The last part tells the real story, or at least as best I recollect it.
Dark days are here. The Keepers have found the Amulets of Power, and with them, they intend to destroy the world as we know it. They must be stopped. The Keepers believe 'old magic' is a good thing. They aren't sure how to bring it about, but are steadfastly following the bits of prophecy they have found in various grimoires. Our spies have been able to hear these prophecies, and they hint at dire consequences from reviving 'old magic' - the loss of magic and possibly the end of the world! Despite these warnings, the Keepers continue in their quest to understand the power of the amulets and their purpose. The prophecy refers to a bond and a pairing - seemingly a reference to the relationship between the Keepers, Sorcha and Aidan. Or possibly their ability to use their elemental and organic magic in concert. Either way, we must do all we can to prevent their full bonding. We must harass them, so they cannot master the power of the amulets. We must create division, if possible. We cannot allow them to succeed. Every means necessary must be used to keep Aidan and Sorcha from truly becoming Keepers and creating 'old magic'!
Tom and Tiffany are making a life together. After years of dating, they've decided to take the next step and move in together. The rest should be easy, right? Except it's not. There are challenges they never imagined. And through them, they will find a strength they never knew they had.
This origin story tells the story of Sorcha and Aidan, finding magic and each other. Aidan can't seem to make his powers work the way they should. Despite his father's instruction, he struggles with the tasks set for him at the mage academy. His brother, Kieran, excels at magery. Why can't he? Sorcha has grown up without magic. An orphan from a mountain town, she thinks she's going mad when her familiar first arrives and starts talking to Sorcha - in her head. Desperate for a place to belong, she sets off to find where she came from. Once she starts exploring her powers, however, she discovers she has a rare gift, one Lord Scanlan desperately wants and is willing to kill to get.
Amanda Stevens improves people's lives. People who are struggling or who need help. Amanda is there for them. But she is no ordinary person, and these are no ordinary circumstances. For Amanda doesn't help those who need her in her lifetime. Instead, she travels to help others in theirs. When Amanda meets Michael Hoples, she's drawn to his intelligence and his kindness. That he's handsome and supportive is an added benefit. They start to fall in love, exploring whether they can build a life together. Little do they realize how much they have in common.
