In his continual search for guidance on how to live his life, the author turns to the One who has inspired him throughout his journey. He listens again to the words that Jesus Christ spoke while on this earth. Whether you accept Jesus Christ as the Son of God or as a spiritual leader in his time, these reflections will inspire and empower you to a deeper level of spirituality. For the author they respond to his own search to be shown the way. A reader's comment: "Bob Mullin has a way of expressing himself which allows one to follow his own heart while being encouraged and inspired to live a life worth living. His reflections on many of his favorite passages are shared in a spirit of faith which enabled me to feel better about my own journey. He continually returns to the simple fact that God loves us unconditionally and our response is to love one another."
God Is All-Loving, NOT All-Powerful We tend to thank God for good things that happen and ask him why when bad things happen. As a child, I learned that God is all-powerful, so I expected him to fix everything. But God is not all-powerful. He can't make us love him because love can't be forced. By its very nature it is free. As I love my children and always will (and they never had to do anything to be loved by me), so it is with God, who is LOVE.
The author, an ex-priest, gives a candid down-to-earth portrayal of life as a priest and life as a family man. He shares his experiences in a matter-of-fact unmasking of his soul and provides a realistic picture of a man who is truly human with all the nicks and scars. The reader gets a behind-the-scenes look at life within the priesthood and within marriage. Chris's story is a fictional memoir revealing what realistically happens in his struggle to live his own life beyond the dictates of family and religion. The reader will be touched by the raw feelings that are exposed as the story of one man struggling with his destiny unfolds. It is so human, profound and simple and in some ways so universal. It reminds us that we all have our own life story and for that we should be grateful. The book is an affirmation that it is in our very humanity that we authenticate who we are and lets us rejoice in that understanding.
The author uses a very human situation, sharing a cup of coffee, to bring out the riches of the Gospel (the Good News). He provides us with the opportunity to listen to a conversation between a searching soul and the apostles Peter, Paul and John. We get to look into the lives and thoughts of four human beings who have been enriched by the message of Jesus Christ and whose lives have been transformed by the gift of God's Spirit. Whether you accept Jesus as the Son of God or as a spiritual leader for our time, these reflections will inspire and empower you to a deeper level of spirituality.
Turn to your God is a wonderful book by Bob Mullin filled with insights from his spiritual journey. Whether you are feeling lost, sad, or just out of control in a situation, Bob's advice on turning to your God is inspiring and uplifting. This book helps in healing and "letting go" of what could be keeping you from enjoying your relationship with your God and others.
The author offers a sensitive but stimulating story touching on all the human emotions we experience. There is sadness, joy, loss, happiness, anger, tears, and laughter. To Touch a Life shows us that it is good to be human and experience all the emotions of life. What he accomplishes is a validation that each one of us has something of ourselves to offer to those who enter our lives. It is a powerful message of giving life to one another through our daily living.
"The author is separated from his young children. It is uncertain when he will be with them again. After a period, he begins to feel as if he will never see them again. So, he writes them a letter to pass on to them what he has learned about life. Using the glories of nature as a starting point, he imparts his thoughts and feelings on living life in this heart-felt letter.
"Great loss comes only after great love." The author shares his feelings of loss in the hope that others might find the strength to allow themselves to experience those same feelings as they try to deal with their own loss. He admits that no one really understands what he feels until he shares what is troubling him with another human being. In doing so, he becomes aware that we all share similar experiences that we have difficulty facing and dealing with. However, it is only when we acknowledge and express our feelings to another person that we become more fully human. In this way, we are again capable of letting that love within our hearts to blossom.
The author makes a plea for everyone to go beyond their individual beliefs and come together as ONE FAMILY under ONE GOD (Whom we call by different names). God speaks to us through the unwritten word of nature (THE FIRST BIBLE) and through our daily lives, as well as through the WRITTEN WORD. God loves us freely and simply wants us to love one another freely. He makes a distinction between RELIGION and SPIRITUALITY for your consideration. He also celebrates OUR HUMANITY with all its flaws and limitations. We are to live with the spirit of PRAYER and FORGIVENESS and PEACE.
"Windows of My Soul" is a collection of the author's thoughts and feelings in poetic style. A while back he gave a reading of his poems to a book club. Afterwards, a lady came up to him and said, "I feel like I know you." He answered, "In a way, you do. I just revealed myself through my writings. I'm glad that I felt free enough to do that." She responded, "Thank you for letting us experience your vulnerability. In sharing yourself, you gave us the gift of accepting our own humanity and feeling comfortable in our own skin. You've given us more than you know and I wanted to thank you for that." So now he offers himself through his words to anyone who is open to take in all that he shares. May you experience the peace and joy that comes with accepting yourself just the way you are. May you rejoice in loving yourself and offering your gift to those around you.
For all those who question or search for a personal view of God who they can relate to, other than the one they grew up with - this is an amazing book. It does not give one answer; it opens the door to a freedom to find your own vision of God and a relationship with God. It is free from the dogma of any religion yet makes God available to everyone - whether agnostic, atheist or those who are religiously affiliated. Very down to earth! Bob Mullin says what so many of us think and asks the questions that so many of us ask. A wonderful read.
