Tyisha is a young lady who suffers far too much at an early age. Her color, her place of birth, the unseemly acts of her grandfather and the rejection of others cause her to see little hope in the future. As a young teacher in training, she learns her supervising teacher has suffered as well and has not been hardened by the experience. She tells Tyisha about a God who loves her and wants to make her whole and Tyisha is changed by the salvation of this God who gave His life for her. Along the way, she discovers other truths such as prejudice is not geographic, that God has chosen our mates before the foundation of the world was laid, and He can form us into what He wants us to be. No matter the circumstance, there is always HOPE.Brent Garzelli was born a poor boy on a cattle farm in southern Missouri. He did not see much hope for the future of farming, so he excelled in high school, college, and seminary. Some of the story of Tyisha is his story-especially the change the Lord made in her life is reflective of the change made in his own. He has been an ordained minister since 1979 and sees writing books as his ministry now.Cheryl Garzelli was born on the headwaters of the Rio Grande River in southern Colorado. She is the daughter of a former Warrant Officer in the United States Army and had no particular faith in God as a child. Her life of faith is a miracle and is the pattern used to show the transition in Tyisha's life from one of hopelessness to one of seeking and doing the will of God. Brent and Cheryl have been married for over 47 years.
Trent Micucci is highly regarded by his Christian peers and has natural leadership skills in a time when the Church is being persecuted. It is the highly tauted "last days" predicted in both the Old and New Testaments and they cut to the core of a man and what he really believes. Those who are the true followers of Jesus Christ appear and, though few in number, lead God's flock to the end of the world. This is a story which may be more real than many of us want to believe. It is full of spiritual events, the appearance of angels, and a future that is more hopeful than most of us have ever dreamed. This story makes each one of us ask-What do I really believe and how does it control my life?Born on a cattle farm in the Ozarks of southern Missouri, I never aspired to ever leave the farm. But God had other plans and took me to college, seminary, and to service as an Air Force chaplain. This was only the beginning of God's plan for my life which included marriage to my wife of 47 years. Together, Cheryl and I have served as pastor and wife of six different congregations, as missionaries to Venezuela, Costa Rica, and Panama, and as a hospital chaplain.Cheryl has been with me since before I was ordained and almost fifty years later, she is still by my side in every ministry the Lord has called me to. Though our bodies are failing, God's call is still as loud as ever.
Tyisha is a biracial girl growing up in the segregated south. She suffers racism from both whites and blacks. After the loss of her mother, she is relegated to living in the home of grandparents who do not love her and she must endure the lecherous actions of her grandfather. Likewise, Jeremiah is a biracial young man who is tolerated by his fellow citizens of Madisonville, Alabama, only because of his athletic talent. This unlikely couple does not meet until they are teachers in the upper Midwest. They each possess plenty of hatred and anger from their childhoods, but individually they become Christians and the "God who is love" slowly changes them into lovers of one another and their fellow man. Only after lengthy preparation, they are finally ready to be used by God for his glory and become missionaries to an indigent people group in Peru. This is the story of how God changes us; the Apostle Paul, a killer of Christians, becomes the first missionary in the Christian era. Tyisha and Jeremiah are changed from angry and hostile people into servants of the living God. God can change everyone of us, no matter where we start.
