Orange Fanta has no theme greater or less than life, as it's given. Charles Elin uses language in its most simplistic to present the complexities of reaching beyond ourselves and questioning where that is. He finds a place for humor and utter disbelief in the politics of the day. These short poems just touch a phenomenology of our everyday, in the words of common banter, miscommunications and private thoughts.

As a young man, Charles Elin once proposed writing a column for The Soho Weekly News, which seemed equivalent to his summer work as a theater critic. He wanted to stand on any designated corner in NYC's Greenwich Village and record the comings and goings. Mind What Comes and Goes is of similar design but in poetic form, recording the mental space of common language and common objects, where even humor makes its presence.
