Excitement filled the air as the Taylor family had planned a road trip to Aspen, Colorado! Skiing, sledding, and ice skating were all on the agenda. But first they had to brave the weather and conquer the long trip from Florida to Colorado. As Dee Dee and her family began their journey, they ran into unexpected weather. Along the way, Dee Dee's mom did an excellent job helping to distinguish the different forms of precipitation that fell along their travel adventures.
The Big Water Puddle is a story book that tells how Dee Dee, a nine year old girl, sets out on an adventure. Before she can go, it begins to rain! Water puddles form all over her yard, keeping her inside. While inside, her mom explains the parts of the water cycle. Through her experience, she is able to share her new found knowledge with her friend. Before they know it, they are both onto their adventure!
Drip drop, drip drop! That was the sound that caused nine-year-old Dee Dee to cringe. She was anxious to explore the wildlife, trails and lake near her home. The water puddles that pooled on the ground prolonged Dee Dee's ability to go outside on an adventure! While watching the rain fall, Dee Dee's mom assured her that the puddles would soon disappear. Curious as to how the water would vanish, Dee Dee's mom began explaining the parts of the water cycle (evaporation, condensation, precipitation, infiltration, and run off). Before long, the water puddles dried up and Dee Dee's friend was at the door. Dee Dee was excited to share with her what she had learned. They bolted out the door to explore the lake and trails near her house.
