This book consists of five chapters, focusing on the case studies in literary, cultural, and audiovisual translation. Chapter 1 deals with the English translation of the ¿Tian wen¿ (¿¿) in the Chu ci (¿¿) from the perspective of image-G actualization. Chapter 2 makes a comparative study of the translations of the ¿Li saö (¿¿) in the Chu ci based on the principle of three-dimensional transformations in Eco-translatology. Chapter 3 explores museum exhibit signs translation from the perspective of Eco-translatology, making a case study of Jingzhou Museum. Chapters 4 and 5 respectively make a study of the subtitle translation of The Conjuring and Empresses in the Palace from the perspective of Eco-translatology.
The Chu ci (¿¿) is the first anthology of romantic poetry by Qu Yuan (¿¿) and other poets in China. This book is the product of the project entitled ¿Research on the Cross-Cultural Dissemination of the Chu ci¿. Based on serveral perspectives, it focuses on the use of thick translation and paratexts in translating classics via a case study of several English translations of the Chu ci, deals with the communication of the canon in the West, and examines the relationship between translation and communication in the context of the Chu ci Western dissemination.
This book deals with the translation and dissemination of the ancient Chinese classic Chu Ci (The Songs of the South) in the Western world, namely Europe and America. First, the overall picture of the canon¿s Western transmission is presented, focusing on the formal features of the dissemination texts related to translation. Then, the three case studies have been conducted, investigating the cultural, aesthetic and terminological aspects of a few English translations of Chu Ci by Chinese and foreign translators. Finally, the problems and solutions with respect to the transmission of the classic have been summarized and worked out, exploring the relationships between translation and dissemination, the methods for improving the translation quality of ancient classics, innovation of publishing, distributing and marketing models, and so on.
