Rupert the frog is very excited. Tonight, he is going to be croaking for the first time. He dances around the living room, practicing his croaks-loud and soft, short and long. He's going to be ready. He goes out to the pond at sunset and greets his friends Jake and Ben, who have been croaking for two months. They're so loud that the entire pond can hear them! But when Rupert begins croaking, he discovers that his croak is too quiet; he can't croak loudly at all, no matter how hard he tries. He goes home sadly, and his mother tells him he needs to be true to himself because his own croaking is perfect just the way it is. Rupert decides to be himself-and then finds a way to use his quiet croaking to help his friends when they're in danger! In this children's story, a young frog just starting to croak at night feels bad when he sounds different from his friends, but he soon learns his unique skills are important. This is David Colquhoun's third children's book, and there is more to come!
