A Life Uncharted is a book of engaging stories many illustrated by the author. The stories describe a lifetime of whimsical decisions and their long term consequences, most of which turned out not all bad, but rather, lead to enlightening discoveries. The stories are positive, often amusing recollections of the events shaping the author´s unconventional life spanning from school days of the fifties through university and the sixties in the often-unsuccessful pursuit of pretty women and unconventional lifestyles up through today. The book is full of tales of chance meetings and adventures traveling from Southern Illinois, through Oklahoma, down to Florida, and arriving in the present in Bogotá, Colombia, South America. David narrates the stories in the first person. The tone is positive, often self-depreciating, and always a bit amused. The stores are about sailing out, a figure of speech for acting without fear of consequence and without always being prepared-about the courage to take the first step.
Finding love through the internet and moving to a foreign country is not for everyone. Learning to Speak Colombian's stories and drawings illustrate one baby boomer's decision to enlarge his world, learn new tricks, and change his life dramatically with a marriage to a Colombian feminist poet and a move to Colombia, South America. The amusing and sometimes erotic drawings, conversations, and reflections about the author's past and present unconventional lifestyle are insightful, compelling, occasionally paradoxical, and always entertaining.
