THIS book is Christ-centred, Cross-centred, and gospel-centred. It focuses on the fulfilment of a promise that God made well over three thousand years ago. God promised that one day he would dwell with us and walk with us, and he would be our God and we would be his people. That promise was fulfilled in Jesus, who was 'God with us'. Jesus came to show us what God is like. He took our sins upon himself, and on the Cross he was judged and condemned for them so that we could be free of condemnation. That's what God is like. Here in Jesus Only, there are gospel gems that you won't find anywhere else-gems that will inspire you to praise God for his great love and wisdom.

  • - 14, the Day of Atonement and the Investigative Judgment, volume 2: AKA The Glacier View Ms.
    af Desmond Ford
    233,95 kr.

Desmond Ford was one of the most prominent preachers of Righteousness by Faith in the Seventh-day Adventist denomination. In 1970, he completed a second doctorate in New Testament (eschatology) at Manchester University, UK, under the supervision of the eminent Professor F. F. Bruce. From 1960 till 1977, Ford taught at Avondale College, in NSW Australia and helped train a whole generation of ministers and teachers. In 1977, he and his second wife Gillian and family went to teach at Pacific Union College, in Angwin, California. Ford had many enemies who were bitterly opposed to his emphasis on a sinless Christ, justification by faith alone, a different interpretation of prophecy, and a kinder approach to Roman Catholic Christians. Robert D. Brinsmead, called "a gadfly on the flank of Adventism," switched from his Adventist perfectionism to teaching the Reformer's gospel of righteousness by faith in the early 1970s. This heightened the agitation against Ford, especially when Brinsmead renounced Adventism's unique doctrine of 1844 and the investigative judgment. Through historicist principles and with the aid of the nonbiblical Year-Day Principle, Adventists had taught from 1853 that in 1844, Christ entered the Most Holy Place in heaven and began the judgment of the living. The heads of the Adventist Forum chapter asked Ford to take a meeting on the subject of 1844 at Pacific Union College. After the talk, Ford was pulled out his classes and sent to General Conference headquarters to write up his views. This manuscript was the result. In August 1980 at convocation at Glacier View, Ford's views were rejected and plans for his dismissal were put in place. In this volume two, chapters 3 and 4 deal with the biblical issue of the Day Atonement in the New Testament books of Hebrews and Revelation in order to show there is no biblical evidence for 1844 and the Investigative Judgment.

  • - A Study of the New Testament Sabbath
    af Desmond Ford
    233,95 kr.

Is the New Testament Sabbath still binding on Christians? Desmond Ford believes it is as we live in this increasingly difficult world. The Sabbath provides a unique opportunity to spend time in worship with our Maker in order to fortify ourselves for Christian living. Above all, Ford believes that the Sabbath is a symbol of the rest of heart that we receive when we accept Jesus as our Savior and Redeemer.

  • - The Demise of Darwin's Theory of Evolution
    af Desmond Ford
    443,95 kr.

Ours is a world of violence, greed, sexual perversion, and a thousand other ills. The rebellious nature of fallen man is the fundamental cause of these woes. But the trigger that multiplied and exacerbated existing evils was the "scientific" heresy of Darwinism. An idea is mental dynamite and this new view of human origins motivated heads of nations, leaders of business, and teachers in schools and universities to act on the Darwinian assumptions that life is a violent struggle between competitors where only the fittest (the cruelest) can survive. Results included "legitimized" wars, oppression of the poor and helpless by the rich and powerful, racism, colonialism's increased extortions, and crime. Darwinism also bewildered minds and broke hearts, for sin was no longer sin but only a relic of our animal natures. The most influential philosopher of the nineteenth century was fashioned by the reading of The Origin of Species. Nietzsche became the father of nihilism and violence (Superman). Kaiser Wilhelm, Mussolini, Hitler, and many other dictators absorbed Darwinism through Nietzsche. The speeches of Mussolini and Hitler resound with phrases from the Origin. The Holocaust is the most widely known result. Today there is a "youth bulge" in many nations, especially those belonging to Islam. As higher education becomes part of the cultures of all the world young people in particular discover that life has no meaning, and that the rule governing survival is one not hampered by morality. Those with tender natures who flee from violence against others often turn upon themselves in hopelessness and despair, and suicide rates among adolescents are forever rising higher. In recent decades the scientific evidence against Darwinism has blossomed. Multitudes of scientists of note now reject it. Sadly, most people are unaware of this. Among Christians, especially those of fundamentalist background, recent scientific progress in this area is frequently unknown. Theories have been devised to answer Darwinism that are often inaccurate, and revelation of their errors often leads to disillusionment among believers.Multitudes cling to evolution and always will because it is "the only game in town" for those who reject God. But the pillars of Darwinism-the competitive, violent struggle for existence, the "survival of the fittest," the inheritance of acquired characteristics, the almost infinite number of intermediates (many links), fashioned by gradual, minute changes, the theory of gemmules, racism, etc.-have been shattered. While it is estimated that forty per cent of scientists in general believe in God, prayer, and morality, only about two per cent of those teaching in universities do. Universities are the hotbed of secularism and atheism, and it is here that young Christians enter a lion's den of dangerous ideas without any intellectual and spiritual armor.

Jeesus tuli osoittamaan meille, millainen Jumala on. Hän otti syntimme harteilleen, ja Hänet tuomittiin ristille, jotta me olisimme vapaita tuomiosta. Sellainen on Jumalan luonto.

  • - A Commentary on the Book of Revelation
    af Desmond Ford
    248,95 kr.

To his commentary on Daniel, Dr. Ford has now added a detailed study of the Revelation to John, and it is a pleasure for me to write a few words in commendation of this work as I did for its predecessor. Since the exegesis of Revelation is a subject on which I myself have published some reflections, readers will know that not all the conclusions reached by Dr. Ford coincide with my own views. His confessional background is different from mine; to me, for example, the New Testament antitype of the sabbath is that divine rest into which "we who have believed" find entrance. His estimate of the historical and geographical reference of many of the details of Revelation differs from mine; to me the book is primarily intelligible in the light of the church's experience in the Roman Empire in the second half of the first century A.D. But, just because the visions of John were seen in that contemporary context, they have a permanent and universal relevance, especially for readers living in a situation not unlike that in which John and his first readers lived. And Dr. Ford's study deserves special commendation because of the clarity with which it brings out that permanent and universal relevance. He has read widely in exegetical literature, as the wealth of quotation in the following pages shows; yet throughout he has exercised his own judgment on the meaning of the text. Above all, the book of the Revelation emerges from his study as a powerful witness to the authentic biblical gospel. It is always a source of pride and joy for me to greet and commend the work of a former student, but when the work proclaims the faith of the gospel so eloquently as Dr. Ford's work does, the pride and joy are doubled. In August 1980 at convocation at Glacier View, Ford's views were rejected and plans for his dismissal were put in place. In this third volume, in chapter five Ford discusses the wider views of modern New Testament scholars (in 1980). He shows how all great eschatological themes such as the kingdom, judgment, the gift of the Spirit, eternal life, resurrection, the destruction of Satan, and the abolition of death are applied to the Cross and its fruits. In chapter six, Ford concludes that a misunderstanding of the issues of authority, inspiration, and inerrancy have been responsible for the majority of doctrinal controversies the Seventh-day Adventists has experienced. In this final chapter, Ford discusses the foundational role of Ellen G. White in forming the Adventist Church.

For much of the second half of the twentieth century, the Seventh-day Adventist church was embroiled in dissent and argument over a doctrine which was largely unknown by other Christian churches. October 27 1979 was a pivotal date for Seventh-day Adventism. On that day Desmond Ford, responding to an invitation from the PUC (Pacific Union College) Forum, spoke to over 1000 people on "The Investigative Judgment: Theological Milestone or Historical Necessity". Dr Eric Syme responded, expressing his substantial agreement with Ford's presentation. Then followed a lengthy Q&A session. The results were cataclysmic: they included the loss of hundreds of SDA ministers and the withdrawal from Adventist churches of thousands in coming years. For several days in August 1980, at great expense to the church administration, over 100 church leaders gathered at Glacier View Colorado to discuss the controversial issues. Here is the story... transcribed, undiluted and unplugged. Dear Reader, Almost forty years have passed since the events you will read about in this publication. At the time, the ripples from this controversy became a tsunami that tore through a generation of Seventh-day Adventists, leading to the exodus of hundreds of dedicated ministers and thousands of disillusioned members from the church. Many more remained inside the church they loved, but grew old and passed away without the confidence they deserved to have in the certainty of their salvation. Desmond Ford

  • - As Revealed by the Seven Saints of Genesis
    af Desmond Ford
    98,95 kr.

We are incurably and necessarily interested in ourselves, but none of us fully know ourselves. Furthermore, most people consistently miss the only approaches to life which will yield satisfaction, joy and immortality. But for those who earnestly and prayerfully study the Scriptures, keys to reality are discovered unlocking life's mysteries. The Bible is a marvelous picture-album and the potential of every life is there sketched. The chief seven characters of Genesis portray the various stages in every believer's walk of faith, and the opening six books of the Bible do the same. In this book you will find uncovered heights and depths of the inspired records never seen before. The appendix offers unassailable evidence for the divine origin of the Bible.

The security and confident happiness of childhood is for most people thrown into disarray by the experiences of the later years. We find the world is not what we expected. Instead it is as though we have been thrown into a whirlpool with a thousand threatening vortices. Why is our world like this? Are there some keys to understanding it, and to negotiating its dangers? How should we live? This volume traces the historical reasons for our world's ideological and existential chaos. It demonstrates that the cosmic bleeding giant, of which we are a part can only be survived by those who know and live the Christian gospel. The nature of that gospel is described so clearly that none need miss the blessings purchased by Christ for each one of us.

Fate has no eyes, but the eyes of the Lord are upon every square inch of the earth. Mortimer Adler, the genius behind Britannica's Great Books of the Western World, said that the most important question ever asked is Does God Exist? He declared that this towered above all other questions because it has more impact on all other issues of life. A moment's thought validates Adler's claims. Where there is no God, there is no man (only a meaningless clot of coincidental molecules), no meaning, no values, no forgiveness of sins, no hope, and no immortality. This book sums up the current logical and scientific evidence for God's existence, and then illustrates the fact of divine sovereignty as demonstrated in well-known lives. The experiences of John Newton, William Carey, Hudson Taylor, Charles Spurgeon, Gladys Aylward, Adoniram Judson, Martin Luther are chronicled with emphasis on events that statistically are beyond chance. Every reader will here find encouragement and hope to successfully meet the challenges of everyday life.

This fourth volume continues the series On the Way to Glacier View and contains, for instance, a series of letter between Lowell Tarling and Desmond and Gillian Ford (from 1970 to 1981, as well a section on the Palmdale Conference in 1976. Much more is included with added correspondence from the period. The author and editor, Gillian Ford, was present at Glacier View Camp in Colorado, U.S.A., when her husband Desmond Ford attended his heresy trial. The meeting lasted from August 11-15, 1980. As an active witness, Gillian gives her view as an author, but also this volume (like the others) contains much independent documentary evidence, which will be of great benefit to future researchers and historians.
