At the end of this paper, the question of how Daimler AG deals with risks of various kinds and what criticism can be derived from this should be answered.First chapter 2 will present the basics for the creation of a theoretical foundation. Specific definitions will be introduced and the processes of Risk Management about its operational and strategic objectives will be disclosed. Chapter 3 also uses a practical example to demonstrate implementation at Daimler AG, which provides an analytical view and a final view of the sum of the findings. At the same time, the typical characteristics of the automotive industry are shown and the resulting risks for Daimler AG are worked out. Finally, an approach to improve the communication of risk management is presented. This approach enables a more advanced presentation of opportunities and risks in combination with allocated strengths and weaknesses. At the end of the work, we find a conclusion with the demands that will result from these elaborated findings.

Research Paper (undergraduate) from the year 2020 in the subject Business economics - Controlling, grade: 1,3, The FOM University of Applied Sciences, Hamburg, course: Value-Based Controlling & Intern. Accounting, language: English, abstract: Due to the COVID 19 pandemic many companies have faced and still face countless challenges. Strategies must be adjusted, and costs must be reduced due to the lack of sales to avoid possible company crises. But how rigorous should profit-oriented management be when the world has been caught off guard by an unprecedented pandemic? Is it possible to combine considerate and entrepreneurial action and how can the interests of all concerned be reconciled? This paper aims to answer and guide these questions. The course of the crisis, the economic consequences and the political measures taken in Germany are discussed. The methodology makes use of current sources and evaluations and sheds light on the shareholder value approach from a historical perspective. It critically examines the application of the concept to the extent of the Corona crisis. Some 23.53 million people were confirmed as infected and about 810,00 deaths were reported worldwide. The COVID 19 pandemic is changing life as known until the start of 2020 at a drastic pace. The course and the effects herald the economic crisis in 2020.On Wall Street, the biggest slump in stock prices since 1987 was reported. Other indices around the world also lost heavily because economic life in many countries had largely come to a stand-still. For 2020, the Federal Government expects the gross domestic product to decline by 6.3 per cent. The reasons for this are well known. The drastic restrictions make it impossible to continue to operate as usual. This means that there will not be a full recovery in 2021 either.

Research Paper (undergraduate) from the year 2020 in the subject Business economics - Law, grade: 1,0, The FOM University of Applied Sciences, Hamburg, course: International Business Law, language: English, abstract: In the course of this work, the liability risks to which a reorganization consultant is exposed during reorganization consulting are examined. The focus of the present study is on German medium-sized companies and disregards the legal regulations for corporate groups. In order to answer the research question "what liability risks does a reorganization consultant expose himself to in the course of a reorganization consultation", the reorganization environment is first explained in detail and the resulting tasks of a consultant are derived. Subsequently, the legislation, primarily the German Civil Code (BGB), the German Commercial Code (HGB) and the German Insolvency Code (InsO), is analysed and relevant case laws are examined and interpreted in the context of the work.During the examination of the possible liability of the consultant, any potential insolvency challenges against him because of already collected fee claims or because of funds passed on to outside third parties must also be considered. The principles and limits of the liability of restructuring consultants based on case law are presented and explained in this paper. In addition to the company management, liability risks can also arise for restructuring consultants in the crisis of the company being advised. The obligation to file for insolvency plays a major role here. If the reorganization consultant concludes that there is a reason for filing for insolvency, the corporate representatives must be informed of the legal obligation to file for insolvency.

Research Paper (undergraduate) from the year 2020 in the subject Business economics - Banking, Stock Exchanges, Insurance, Accounting, grade: 1,3, The FOM University of Applied Sciences, Hamburg, course: Strategic Corporate Management, language: English, abstract: The goal of this thesis is to analyse the strategies of FinTechs. The paper should give an orientation on how FinTechs position themselves in the traditional banking sector. This is done with help of a case study. For this purpose, the decisive developments, and drivers of the FinTech industry will be described first after a narrowing of the term FinTech and its subcategories. In the case study, the environment of Bank N26 is first examined using a PESTEL analysis. Based on the insights gained, the strengths and weaknesses of the online bank are adapted using a SWOT3 analysis. Finally, the evaluation and recommendation include the formulation of Strategic Fields of Action for Bank N26. Since a more detailed discussion of implementation would go beyond the scope of this text, the work concentrates exclusively on the strategically relevant factors and makes only concrete recommendations for strategy orientation but not for implementation. In recent years, the FinTech industry has been able to collect considerable Investments. While the number of newly founded FinTech Start-Ups is decreasing, especially FinTech companies from the Banking Sector FinTech can collect large sums in the later funding rounds. In absolute terms, the USA dominates both operationally and in total investments. The UK also plays a major role in the European environment. Technology has been adopted by the banks at a very early stage in the electronic markets, but the impression arises that young FinTech Start-Ups often reach the end customer better and satisfy needs more efficiently. For established financial companies, the question is how they can respond to changing user behaviour and how they can interact with these new market participants. FinTech Start-Ups, contrary, face the challenge of differentiating themselves from existing business models.

Seminar paper from the year 2020 in the subject Business economics - Accounting and Taxes, grade: 1.3, The FOM University of Applied Sciences, Hamburg, language: English, abstract: Some companies generate billions of dollars in sales and yet little tax goes to the tax authorities. By using tax-saving models, companies can easily avoid high tax expenses. Researchers have found that multinational companies shift 40 percent of their profits to tax havens. As a result, hundreds of billions of euros flow past the authorities in Europe and the USA alone every year.A certain tax-saving model has made this possible over the years. The "Double Irish with a Dutch Sandwich" favours above all the American tech companies, such as GAFA. New legislative changes are to put a stop to this from 2020. The present study shows which legal foundations have made tax avoidance in the billions possible in the first place, how corporations have taken advantage of them and what financial effects this may have on the profitability of a company. Furthermore, it is examined which consequences currently valid legal changes have within the profit and loss account of a company.
