The servants of Al-Raḥmān live balanced between space and time. They are neither easterly nor westerly, neither earthly nor heavenly, but in the middle of all of these in time and space. However, in order to maintain this position, they must first fulfill their duties of remembrance, gratitude, and obedience.

Our world is full of messages. From the flowers in a garden to the stars in the galaxies, from the birds in the air to the fish in the water, and from the rocky mountain to the flowing waters in the sea; they are all sending us messages to which we are supposed to respond. But in order to respond, we need a living heart which can receive the message passively and respond actively. In this volume of the Expansions series, the author sheds light on the procedure whereby a heart can be revived in order to respond to the messages with which it is presented. Just like a living plant responds to the light of the sun, now it is time for man to begin responding to the Origin of all life and light: God.

This volume of expansions discusses the methods of awakening the heart. Generally the human beings are sleeping until they are awakened. It is not the eyes in their heads that are asleep but the eyes of their heart. The first step in this process is to cause the actual awakening of the heart and the second step is to maintain the awakening and to avoid the heart to relapse back into sleep again and the third step consists of the one who has been awakened to become himself an awakener. As for the first step, two things must be considered during the process of the awakening. The first aspect is to bring the heart back to life, for sleeping is synonymous with death therefore a sleeping heart is a dead heart. The second aspect is to endow the heart with a light by which to differentiate between truth and falsehood. From this point on, the journey of the awakened begins...
