A Handbook of Categorical Algebra is designed to give a detailed account of what should be known by everybody working in, or using, category theory. As such it will be a unique reference. The three volumes are written in sequence, with the first being essentially self-contained. Volume 1 is devoted to general concepts and can be used for advanced undergraduate courses on category theory.
Develops Galois theory in a much more general context than the undegraduate-style Galois theory of fields. In particular, the relationship with category theory is emphasized. Treats work by leading researchers in the field, and includes a comprehensive bibliography and index. Will be interesting for algebraists and category theorists.
The Handbook of Categorical Algebra is designed to give, in three volumes, a detailed account of what should be known by everybody working in, or using, category theory. As such it will be a unique reference. There is ample material here for a graduate course in category theory, and the books should also serve as a reference for users.
The Handbook of Categorical Algebra is designed to give, in three volumes, a detailed account of what should be known by everybody working in, or using, category theory. As such it will be a unique reference. The volumes are written in sequence. The second introduces important classes of categories that have played a fundamental role in the subject's development and applications.
