Do you ever check for Facebook or text messages inany of these places: church, movies, concert, sportingevent, dinner table or even in the bathroom? Ok, maymaybe you don't, but do you know anyone who does? Ifyou answered yes, this book is clearly for you. If youanswered no, this book is still for you and you will find outwhy; just read on. This book is about how Facebookchanged my life and that of some of my friends andstudents. The stories in this book are anecdotal and notscientific. They are based on my own observations andexperiences and those of my supporting cast. I do believethough, that most of the readers will be entertained andmight have similar experiences.
Every television news or radio station I tuned into seemed to be using the same words and terms, such as: canary in the coal mine, cancel culture, conflate, contextualize, deflect, deep state conspiracy theory, pivot, political calculus, messaging, racial reckoning, structural racism, weaponize, white privilege, woke, and so on. I had to figure them out and learn them like a new language. Some were easy but others needed much more effort! Being a fairly intelligent person, as well as a teacher, I used my college background in English, economics, political science, plus two years of law school. Combined with my love for learning, I listened actively to the news, taking notes, and consulting Google regularly whenever I had doubts or needed information. I am now able to understand the evening news! Hence, I came up with the idea for this book and named it An MSN, Fox News, And CNN Education: Words and Terms for the Educated and Uneducated used by Cooper, Cuomo, D. Lemon, and More. I decided to compile a list that would help any listener who seeks self-improvement and who wants to learn to use these words, terms, and sayings in context.
This book contains over 100 things to like about President Obama as well as some of the memorable moments about the man and the events leading up to and including his presidency. I strongly believe that we should do everything humanly possible to preserve President ObamaÕs legacy! We should do this, not for Obama per se, but for the human race! We ought not sit idly and watch the legacy of a good man and an excellent president be destroyed by those that were operating out of bad place, hate, and bigotry and who refused to work with Obama! There are some who would have us forget that Obama rescued our country from the brink of economic disaster and the deepest recession in modern history. Finally, if someone who is worth millions and is well-connected like, ahem President Trump can invest so much time and energy trying to tear down President Obama, then this average citizen, me, can try to educate young people coming up and future generations about reasons to love President Obama! Boom!
I started a group on Facebook and named it "Belizeans, West Indians and Creole Language and sayings." The purpose of this group was to bring people together to share and discuss cultural and language issues related to Belize, the West Indies, and the creole language and experience. Many transplanted Belizeans like myself, a 30+ years resident of Los Angeles and married to a non-Belizean, yearn for conversation with other Belizeans. The internet and in particular, Facebook provides us with the valuable opportunity to socialize and fill this void. This book came about as the result of a conversation on Facebook. A few friends and I were discussing some interesting Belizean creole sayings, many that we hadn't heard in ages and others that were obscure. The energy and enthusiasm was palpable as we challenged each others' memories to unlock these cool and interesting sayings from the recesses of our brains. The fun and excitement grew with each new saying from our childhoods that a member from the group shared.
Facebook keeps a count to let you know if your post is popular with lots of comments and likes or if it's a snoozer that only your mother would like or comment on. By reading the examples of the status, posts, and updates in this book, you will be able to tailor your own posts and acquire the art of winning friends and influencing people on Facebook. I believe that Facebook can help bring about world peace because of the influence of positive people like you and me. I enjoy writing and interestingly enough, Facebook helped me to develop as a writer. I wrote a poem about Facebook, and then a book, prayer, and a joke all about Facebook. I posted about each of these and I received a great deal of support and encouragement from my Facebook friends.
