The Delinquent Or Seeing Company: A Comedy In Five Acts is a play written by Frederic Reynolds and first published in 1805. The play is set in London and follows the story of a young man named Charles who is sent to debtor's prison for his reckless spending habits. While in prison, Charles meets a group of fellow debtors who call themselves the ""Seeing Company"" and who have devised a scheme to make money by pretending to be clairvoyant. Charles joins the Seeing Company and they begin to make a fortune by exploiting the gullibility of the wealthy elite. However, their scheme is eventually exposed and they are forced to face the consequences of their actions. The play is a satirical commentary on the greed and corruption of society during the Georgian era and features a cast of colorful characters, including a cunning lawyer, a duplicitous landlady, and a naive heiress. Overall, The Delinquent Or Seeing Company is a witty and entertaining comedy that offers a glimpse into the social and cultural landscape of early 19th century England. This scarce antiquarian book is a facsimile reprint of the old original and may contain some imperfections such as library marks and notations.
