This is the second in a series of Andreas Bauer mystery novels where the royalties go to a charity, in this case, the Autism Society. It involves a fictional detective who is asked to protect a Presidential candidate from various assassination plots.
In his first challenging case after becoming a private investigator, Andreas Bauer looks into the death of a lifeguard. The police have determined that the boy died as a result of his reckless behavior on a diving board, when the pool was unoccupied. Everyone believes the police report except the boy's grandmother. She hires Andreas Bauer to prove that the death was not accidental, and to bring the killer to justice. His wife helps him in overcoming his frustrations in the early stages of the case, by quoting fictional detective idols he studied when he was a young boy. Prior to, and in this case, he provides innovative solutions to solve other crimes. All the royalty from this book will go to the National Down Syndrome Society.
