In 2020, after a highly contested Presidential Election, the then-current President fomented a new Civil War, CW 2. At the end of the war between the "liberals" and the "conservatives" most of the USA was dark. Enemies of the President were rounded up and sent to gulag-like prison camps to toil on one or another of the President's special projects, like the wall with Latin America. From time to time, prisoners in these camps were taken away, some never to be see again. This is the story of two of those people who escaped to lead a revolt and to help return the USA to its people.

Many of these short stories were written as exercises in a class. Figurehead was one that the teacher was taken with and said it should be expanded and published. The same about Miel. The stories range from straight science fiction to horror and dystopian fiction. The heroes win out because I am fundamentally an optimist, at least for this type of fiction. Our reality is another story, for another time.

After a new Civil War and, on its heels, the collapse of the environment, the US descends into violence , depravity and anarchy.Morning Glory Wilson, Moonflower, is a young orphan struggling to survive on the margins in this dark world. She and a band of survivors fight to live amidst the carnage and in doing that discover technology, friends, and wells of strength and power that allow them to do that and to expand beyond the planet Earth.

The world as we know it comes crashing down, mostly because of our stupidity and cupidity. A hardy band of human, super human and extraterrestrial survivors fights against huge odds to live on and eventually spread the human seed across the galaxy.
