  • - Toward Magoist Cetaceanism by Helen Hye-Sook Hwang

This reader includes my articles published in my book, anthologies, and journals from 2015 to present. The majority of chapters were written within the last five years. My research concerning Mago, the Great Mother, began in 2000 for my doctoral dissertation. For the first fourteen years, it was extremely difficult for me to produce articles or a book treating Magoism directly due mainly to the overwhelmingly immense, complex, and slippery nature of the topic. In the course of time, my research focus evolved from Magoism to Magoist Cetaceanism. I learned that Magoist women and mothers were not alone in shaping the destiny of pre- and proto-patriarchal worlds. Contrarily, they were guided by the natural world headed by cetaceans (whales, dolphins, and porpoises). They discovered cetaceans divine. Whales, surpassing the human standard (in planetary origin, lifespan, biological magnitude, aquatic residence, meteorological influence, sonic communications, and communal social behaviors, to name a few), had been the guardian of the Planet, Earth. Their planetary presence was the model for the divine. In alliance with whales, Shaman Queens of the ancient world cultivated the consciousness of the matriverse (maternally perceived universe). What was feared by patriarchs was not just women but cetaceans whom women revered and bonded with. My encounter with Magoist Cetaceanism enabled me to transform my feminist consciousness into the matriversal consciousness. Feminism is an antidote against patriarchy. Where patriarchy is dispelled, feminism undergoes transformation. Our historical consciousness is not linear. Our view of the past shapes the future. My study of pre-patriarchal confederacies of Old Korea/East Asia shows that patriarchy is a short-living unreality. Patriarchy has proved repeatedly that it is incapable of leading the world in harmony with the universe. That is because it is built on the partial, distorted view that the male is supreme above ALL else. Where the male self is deemed outside the web of interdependence, his rule is there only to be subverted by the rebel force from within. In the matricentric world, women and mothers share agency with ALL else. In the case of Magoist Korea, they revere cetaceans as the terrestrial divine. My research on Magoist Cetaceanism shows the way for humans to restore peace and harmony within the matriverse.

This anthology, Celebrating Intercosmic Kinship of the Goddess, is prepared as a sequence to Celebrating Seasons of the Goddess (Mago Books, 2017). As suggested in the title, she jumps off from her older sister book to the territory untrodden. Our contributors individually and collectively take an audacious action to voice the conviction that we all are interconnected on a cosmic level. We mean not only interspecial kinship but also unity with intercosmic entities including constellations and deities. When the statement, "We are One," is captured as WE/HERE/NOW, our language becomes soteriological. Seeking intercosmic kinship is salvific, not only to women and men but also to ALL in the matriverse (maternally perceived universe). Our goal is not just being awakened but staying awakened to the Oneness of ALL in the matriverse. We hope our readers experience the power of speaking truth (removing illusions) embodied in the essays, poems, fictions, photographic works, artworks, and art essays of this volume. Subtitled as The Chorus in Poetry, Art, Prose and Art Essays, this Sectional Booklet includes Sections 2 and 3 of the Main Book. • - Re-discovering Mago, the Great Goddess from East Asia

In "The Mago Way: Re-discovering Mago, the Great Goddess from East Asia," I have shared my personal, scholarly, and spiritual discoveries concerning the Great Goddess known as Mago in East Asia. Comprising eight essays researched, some published, between 2000 and 2015, this book is a crystallization of my feminist intellectual/spiritual/activist endeavor (1) to search for my own East Asian/Korean gynocentric cultural and historical background; (2) to dis-cover the overall features of Magoism, the mytho-historical-thealogical matrix that venerates Mago as the supreme divine; (3) to reinstate the pre- and proto-patriarchal mytho-history of Magoism from the perspective of Old Korea; (4) to assess cross-cultural parallels with worldwide Goddess traditions; and (5) to delineate the metamorphic nature of the Magoist Cosmogony. Due to the complexity of the Magoist Cosmogony, however, Volume 1 can only treat the first part, which is prior to the self-evolution of Mago Stronghold (Earth). Eliciting the Reality of the whole, the Magoist Cosmogony tells us that HER Beginning is not a thing of the bygone past but the Work of WE/HERE/NOW. The ultimate agent, time, and space are the unified One. It informs us that the natural process of autogenesis takes place as the universe reaches HER sonic equilibrium. All things are self-born through the sonic movement of the universe. Mago too has come into being through the very music of Eight Tones, also known as "the music of the spheres" in the West. Surviving unbridled by patriarchal censorship over the course of time, the Mago Cosmogony redefines the Holy Text as necessarily gynocentric. It awakens a deep knowing in us. It may be called a vision in that it is about dis-covering truth, to be precise, the gynocentric nature of Reality. The symbol of the Female (S/HE) is not a sex indicator. Encompassing the All, the Female is the Way of the Universe. I intend to use "sex" in place of "gender" in this book. First of all, the context (the Divine Realm of the Great Goddess) is prior to the bifurcation of the sexes. Thus, the notion of gender for "the Female" is irrelevant. Secondly, it is to restore the discussion of "sex" in place of "gender" for feminist discourse. "Sex" is the original factor that precedes and gives rise to the notion of "gender." It is the biological nature of women and men that Magoist Feminism concerns, as it seeks the empowerment of "the female" rather than "the feminine" and the balance between "sexes" rather than "genders" across time and space.

  • - Why GoddessFeminism, Activism, and Spirituality?

A full color edition of She Rises, a guidebook to the consciousness of the Great Goddess, the primordial consciousness of WE in S/HE, by contemporary Goddessians. The question, "Why Goddess Feminism, Activism, and Spirituality?" taken as the weft is interwoven with the warp of the answers provided by ninety contributors from around the world. She Rises puts forth ever-unfolding patterns of Goddessian thoughts, experiences, and visions expressed through a variety of works including short writings, poems, essays, artworks, and research papers. Our authors take us far and near, from the cosmic horizon to the very political site of one's inner feeling. Probing the very foundation of one's thinking/feeling/sensing, She Rises collectively re-members and re-stores what has been forgotten or rather erased in the mind of people under the advancement of patriarchal times. The acoustic/semantic/visual chorus of this book sometimes whispers and other times trumpets the premise that knowing the Goddess is a beginning of one's action to re-create the self and the world. More to the structure, She Rises taps into the gynocentric power of the numeric symbolism of three and nine by (1) calling Parts as Mothers and Chapters as Sisters and (2) inventing the Nine Sisters under the Three Mothers.

Celebrating Seasons of the Goddess restores the original vision of celebrating cultural and natural landmarks from the perspective of Goddess feminist activism. By taking such categories as time, seasons, nature and the female divine as a point of departure, this book brings modern minds out of patriarchal holiday conventions and invites the reader to join the sobering chorus, led by our 35 authors-writers, researchers, poets, artists, ritualists, photographers and activists from around the world. At an individual level, this book presents a wide range of thealogical expressions in 88 chapters that are self-transcending and metamorphic. Its Goddess Spirituality, which may be called Engaged Goddess Spirituality, is characterized by the impetus to derail the cultural and spiritual paradigm of patriarchal religions. In other words, this book, fueled by the commitment to feminist social change, undertakes the task of undercutting the main nerve of patriarchal advancements that peril the terrestrial community at an ever-magnifying scale. However, Celebrating Seasons of the Goddess does not stop there. Summoning the time/space of the Primordial Mother, HERE/NOW, it re-channels seemingly isolated spiritual practices of the world to the consciousness of WE in S/HE. In short, it is a multi-faceted practical book that accompanies one's process of awakening and commitment to Engaged Goddess Spirituality. This book aims at the following: Discovering and owning Nature's female rhythmsPersonalizing cosmic timeRiding Earth's seasonsCountering foreground patriarchal propagandasPoliticizing female experiences as salvificCommemorating Goddesses and gynocentric culturesBefriending non-human members of the terrestrial communitySupporting Indigenous strugglesExploring nature-based lifestylesEngaging spirituality with feminist activismAwakening the deep memory of WECultivating the primordial consciousness of the CreatrixSection titles are: Section One: Time, Nature and the GoddessSection Two: The Chorus in Poetry, Art and RitualSection Three: The Wheel of SeasonsSection Four: A New Beginning, Winter SolsticeSections One, Three, and Four follow thematic categories, while Section Two is a collection of such genres as poetry, prose, art, and photography, which therefore stands as an autonomous booklet that contains the themes of the other three sections. Readers may opt to read this book perennially (Section One, Two, and Three) and seasonally (Section Four for Winter Solstice

  • - How Goddess Feminism, Activism, and Spirituality?
    af Helen Hye-Sook Hwang
    927,95 kr.

She Rises: How Goddess Feminism, Activism, and Spirituality? is a proud sister book to She Rises: Why Goddess Feminism, Activism, and Spirituality? Inheriting the legacy of Volume 1, it continues to interweave the warp (the theme of the book) and the weft (our stories). What we present in this book is a tapestry collectively interwoven by twenty-first century Goddessians/Magoists. As many as 96 contributors from around the world have provided captivating motifs in multi-genres of prose, poetry, and art. This tapestry is no ordinary one; it stands as the genome map of the primordial consciousness of WE in S/HE to those who will discover it. It charts out ways to undo patriarchal programs at personal, cultural, and cosmic levels and to enter the Way of the Primordial Mother, or the Creatrix. She Rises Volume 2 distinguishes herself from her predecessor in several ways. Most apparently, the warp, the "how" question, that is, "How are we committed to Goddess Feminism, Activism, and Spirituality?", summons us, our authors and readers, to put in action our answers provided to the "why" question, "Why are we committed to Goddess Feminism, Activism, and Spirituality?", in the previous volume. And the weft, our stories, consolidates our roots in the inseparable one ground of feminism, activism, and spirituality of the Primordial Mother. The horizon is widened with new markings. Voices are emboldened, exposing hidden patriarchal ruses. And our images whisper deep and ongoing awakenings. This book works at multi-dimensions. Structured as Nine Sisters (Chapters) under Three Mothers (Parts), like her predecessor, this book takes on another layer of meaning in that it restores the Nine Goddess/Mago Movement in our time. Experience our book that awakens minds, provides sanctuaries, heals wounds, cures diseases, crosses borders, and connects the isolated. Fully charged with fresh insights, e-motions, and aspirations, it sends out the metamorphic power of Goddessians/Magoists.
