This book is the first of a series of children's books intended to introduce grades PK-7 students to the value and impact of engineering on their daily lives by connecting the profession to real-world applications. Throughout the book, young people of different ages and ethnicities share their day-to-encounters with several engineering disciplines. These personal encounters with engineering are narrated through individual stories that expose the reader to different types of engineers and what they do. It is hoped these stories will give a face (or a voice) to engineering, which in turn, will generate increased curiosity in students to more fully explore aspects of engineering in their daily lives. By creating connections between engineering and students' daily lives, their awareness of and appreciation for careers in engineering will, hopefully, be peaked-ultimately, resulting in more students choosing engineering as a college major and future career. The layout of the book includes a general introduction of the children-Natasha's friends-who share their personal experiences. The book ends with an invitation for readers to further explore the world around them and to think about which engineering discipline(s) interests them.
