Research Paper (undergraduate) from the year 2009 in the subject History - America, grade: 13/20, , course: Rapport de Licence, language: English, abstract: With regard to the problem statement of our topic, we would like to make it clear that the issue of race in America is highly debated in this paper. America is both a multicultural and multiracial nation, among which are African-Americans. First, it is important to note that African-Americans generally lived in a hostile environment vis-à-vis the vast majority of Whites who do not facilitate things for Blacks. Indeed, it seems that Whites were dramatically hostile to Blacks; this had been the case since the abolition of slavery. The question is: how come that Whites are so harmful to Blacks? As we speak about the advancements of African-Americans in education, cinema, economy and politics, this question points out another question, are Whites afraid of black competition? [...]

Thesis (M.A.) from the year 2010 in the subject American Studies - Culture and Applied Geography, grade: 15/20, Omar Bongo University, course: Rédaction du Mémoire de Maîtrise, language: English, abstract: Whether we are in cinema, economy or politics, there is a great debate concerning the issues of representation in the United States. In fact, it is a permanent debate drawing the attention of people, as it is difficult to assert if a group is well represented. So the question of representation has already and always been debated by university professors and specialists of the issue, and continues to be debated. But some questions are worth asking: at which level can we talk about representation? Or when can we say that a group is actually represented? These questions lead us to deal with minority representation. Here we want to consider the notion of visibility and invisibility. In the United States there is what we term visible minority and invisible minority. Representation here is not about telling how many African Americans have succeeded in various fields. It is not about the number of Blacks who succeeded in cinema, economy or politics. The issue of representation goes beyond that perception. Of course, it does not imply that the quantity of Blacks advancing socially cannot be taken into account. But the point is that if we look at this, we shall notice that their representation is not that visible. For this reason we find useful to transcend that perception of representation. Our paper focuses on representation as the fact of being visible in the mainstreams. For instance, concerning minority visibility, can we say that Hispanics and African Americans have the same representation? We do not think so. This is why the notion of visible and invisible minority has to be considered. Representation here is more related to merit. Take for example, the case of the business world, do we know an icon among Hispanics whose visibility is worldwide? Certainly not! However, we have Oprah Winfrey whose fame has reached worldwide as the only Black billionaire. Take also politics with President Obama. And finally, consider American cinema, can we speak about Hispanic or Chinese cinema in the United States today? Certainly not! Yet, we can speak about African American cinema, because it is visible. That is what we have termed as minority visibility.

Scientific Study from the year 2018 in the subject Politics - Basics and General, grade: -, ( Atlantic International University ), course: Postdoctoral Research, language: English, abstract: Nunn (2005) postulated that no matter where people call their place, the central organizing security principal of the 21st century must be the prevention of the spread or utilization of nuclear weapons or other WMD. The IAEA is front and at the core in this quest. Its mission, its authority and its resources should be reinforced. We are in race between cooperation and catastrophe. If we have a nuclear disaster, the world will demand immediate action. Why expect it to occur and act a day after? We should take action now, (Nunn, 2005). Sagan (2005) indicated that all governments are hostages to each other¿s nuclear physical security measures today. The stealing of a single nuclear weapon or a significant quantity of nuclear material in any state represents a danger for all nations (Sagan, 2005). Governments in each state consequently have a legitimate interest in gaining reassurance that others are keeping up effective physical security. Furthermore, a global multiplier concept of defense is obviously essential to Increase efforts to mandate advanced domestic controls (Sagan, 2005). Nuclear non-proliferation and disarmament are the primary line of defense in that if fewer states have nuclear weapons and those that have them reduce the size of their arsenals, the protection of existing weapons turns out to be more manageable (Sagan, 2005). Seminar paper from the year 2016 in the subject Business economics - Miscellaneous, grade: A, ( Atlantic International University ), course: SEMINAR ADMINISTRATIVE DEVELOPMENT, language: English, abstract: A social business is a new type of businesses designed by Professor Muhammad Yunus to serve social purposes. Yunus was a former economics professor at Dhaka University, and the founder and managing director of Grameen Bank (lenders of microcredits to world¿s poorest) who won the 2006 Nobel Peace Prize. A social business is an alternative against poverty and its objective is to make the poor participate in the process that helps them get out of that situation of slavery- poverty- by causing them to become micro entrepreneurs who increase their income in order to become independent people. The process will eventually change their living conditions and living standards. In Yunus¿ words there are two kinds of social businesses. The first category is one that is a non-loss, Non-dividend Company whose main purpose is basically a social goal. The second category is a profit making company possessed by poor people devoted to a well-defined social cause. Besides, social businesses must be self-sustaining and its owners have to be dedicated to never take any dividend beyond the return of the original amount they put in the business, Yunus. Above all, his book is very amazing as Yunus proposes a new model to solve the problems of poverty, not with more charities but with the creation of social businesses. Charities on the contrary encourage dependence and have not resolved the issue of poverty until now.In that perspective, Yunus (2010) sustains that for years governments have been incapable of solving the problems of poverty. Conversely, the number of poor people has increased over the years. This clearly illustrates that solving the issue of poverty is not only to be a governmental solution as governments have proved to be incompetent in this respect. Another solution was to be found, it is the one he proposes in his book. In fact, social businesses have become so successful that traditional capitalism is thinking somewhat how to shift the way things have been handled on their part so far. As an illustration, Yunus (2010) thinks that social business is a new type of capitalism that will help humankind to overcome poverty and have a better life.

Seminar paper from the year 2016 in the subject Geography / Earth Science - Miscellaneous, grade: A, ( Atlantic International University ), course: SEMINAR INTERNATIONAL DEVELOPMENT I, language: English, abstract: This book Fractal Time by Braden is fascinating. The author centers his analysis on the year 2012, which many people gave interpretation to. An interpretation that consisted of seeing that year as the end of the world. Besides, that way of viewing things for the year 2012 was a confusion of events. At least Braden wrote the book before the coming of that year, which proves that the explanations he gives in his book are trustful. When Braden works on the year 2012, his focus is about the cycles of times. Cycles of times that can occur in our day-to-day life and are more likely to repeat after many years. According to the author we have to approach this year the best way possible. To convey his message, he talks about 20 times codes that are developed in the book. Time code 1 says that we are living the completion of a 58,185-year-long cycle of time- a world age that the ancient Maya calculated would end the winter of the solstice on December 21, 2012. We are living the end of time, not the end of the world as a lot people predicted, but the end of a world age. For example, the present world age began in 3114 B.C. and will end in A.D. 2012. Time code 2 states that our ancestors recorded their experience of the last end of time showing beyond a reasonable doubt that the close of one world age is the beginning of the next, and not the end of the world. Now, the question might be: what is the meaning of the end of world age? Those who came before us knew the end of the time was coming, they knew because it always does. Accordingly, Braden asserts that every 5,125 years, the Earth and our solar system reach a place in their journey through the heavens that mark the end of such a time cycle. Only five generations in the last 26,000 years have experienced the shift of world ages. We will be the sixth. The only way to arrive at the light of the next cycle is to finish the darkness of this one. Many themes are developed in Braden¿s book. I have selected those I thought to be more appealing. The first issue I will discuss are cycles (time cycles) that repeat, and then I shall debate the 20-year curse of American presidents. The last discussion will be the identification of cycles of nature in our lives.

Seminar paper from the year 2016 in the subject Politics - International Politics - Topic: Peace and Conflict Studies, Security, grade: A, ( Atlantic International University ), course: SEMINAR INTERNATIONAL DEVELOPMENT I, language: English, abstract: What is a quantum shift in the global brain? According to Laszlo, the global brain is the quasi-neural energy- and information- processing network created by six and a half billion humans on the planet, interacting in many ways, private as well as public, and on many levels, local as well as global. He goes on to say that a quantum shift in the global brain is a sudden and fundamental transformation in the relations of a significant segment of the six and a half billion humans to each other and to nature¿ a macroshift in society. The two shifts together make for a veritable ¿reality revolution¿ in society as well as in science. In his book, Laszlo tells us that we are at a pivotal point in evolution, where our generation is in the position to determine the fate of humankind. Nevertheless, we can no longer continue on as we have done until now.

Essay from the year 2016 in the subject Politics - Basics and General, grade: A, ( Atlantic International University ), course: Geopolitics, language: English, abstract: To begin with, we would like to highlight that doing research on geopolitics has brought us to go deeper into a certain literature that enabled us to understand from the very beginning what geopolitics was meant for. The literature we have used consists of two categories, books relative to the latest changes on the discipline; we mean geopolitics in the present. The other literature is concerned with books of the 1990s with some authors like Ó Tuathail, Dalby and others, books that give a historical perspective of geopolitics. Furthermore, we believe that for a discipline like geopolitics that we have never studied in our previous university studies, we did not just need to make a good assignment and that is all, but also to acquire tools that might help us to be knowledgeable in that coursework. For this reason, we needed to read books that analyze and explain what the essence of geopolitics is. Our basic thesis statement is that the geographical conditions of a country, this is to say that its endowment in natural resources can have an impact on its geopolitical orientation, which is its foreign policy. In other words, geographical conditions influence a country¿s foreign policy or attitude in international affairs. This we will provide an example with Gabon, our home country.

Doctoral Thesis / Dissertation from the year 2018 in the subject Politics - International Politics - Topic: Peace and Conflict Studies, Security, grade: A, ( Atlantic International University ), course: Doctor of International Relations with a major in International Security, language: English, abstract: This paper is an attempt to deconstruct the concept of security which has been by tradition exclusively confined to the military realm. We make evident that security takes into consideration a number of fields and that its major concern is the human person. In addressing security in this work, we do not only refer to the security of states ¿ the concept of national security ¿, but also to that of individuals ¿ human security ¿.Governments should integrate in their security agendas not only their own security, but also the security of their nationals. Accordingly, this implies that they should protect their citizens against any threat to human life. In other words, governments or the people they rule do not merely face military threats from other states; they are as well endangered by other threats to their security, these threats are debated in this research paper. We do not mean that military issues are not to be conceptualized within security frameworks, but we do contend that they are not the unique issues to be securitized. Indeed, this paper displays that other issues should be securitized.

Scientific Study from the year 2018 in the subject Politics - International Politics - Topic: Peace and Conflict Studies, Security, ( Atlantic International University ), course: Article Scientifique, language: English, abstract: Symons (2005) contended that the dawn of the nuclear era has brought with it a new power, terrifying in its capacity to wipe out; awesome in its potential for good, a great contrast that confronts the world today. On the one hand, nuclear power represents a significant climate friendly source of energy. Furthermore, its applications go far beyond civil nuclear power ¿ the preservation of food and the prevention of diseases are being revolutionized by nuclear technology ¿ and in effect, nuclear power will practically be certainly essential if we must continue our adventure of exploration beyond our solar system (Symons, 2005).

Seminar paper from the year 2016 in the subject Literature - Modern Literature, grade: A, ( Atlantic International University ), course: SEMINAR PERSONAL DEVELOPMENT I, language: English, abstract: In his book, Braden is referring to the universal field of energy, that the father of quantum physics, Max Planck ¿ a German theoretical physicist whose work on quantum theory won him the Nobel Prize in Physics in 1918 ¿ , describes as a field that connects everything. He calls that field of energy the Divine Matrix. Now, what is the Divine Matrix? According to the author, the Matrix is a universal energy that affects our reality; he uses quantum physics to explain it. Braden (2007, p. 52) mentioned that the Divine Matrix is everywhere at all time and that it is also the mind of the universe. Besides, the following book¿s review will help us understand how the Matrix works in our everyday life. Equally important, before the reading of this book, I would experience the kind of things that I somewhat thought to be the unique person on this planet to ever experience. Most importantly, I was incapable of explaining them. It is true that I would as well question people around me if they ever experienced some of them. The answer was ¿yes¿. But for the other experiences I did not even dare to ask someone else. The very purpose of this dissertation is to discuss some of the topics Braden tackles in his book. Because he talks about many themes, nevertheless I have selected those I thought to actually be highly relevant. Accordingly, I will discuss four (04) subjects: the connection which exists between everything within the Matrix; the origins of the universe is also another discussion of my dissertation. In addition to that, I shall debate bilocation and the power of imagination. On the latter, Braden (2007, p. 55) talks about the bridge between imagination and reality. Why do I term it as ¿power of imagination¿? Because the author even if he does not use the expression ¿power¿, conversely demonstrates that imagination in fact has a power. By utilizing the term ¿bridge¿, he means imagination is not far from reality given that as human beings and being part of the Divine Matrix, we ourselves can create our own reality. The four above issues will be discussed in details.

Essay from the year 2017 in the subject Politics - Basics and General, grade: A, ( Atlantic International University ), course: Military Strategy and Military Studies, language: English, abstract: Military strategy is a discipline that we have chosen to develop lastly in our coursework; the discipline has drawn our attention in our major because we want to understand the importance of designing a strategy on the part of the military before going to war. It is amazing because we will see that from the very beginning of the world, nations or people had always wanted to ensure their dominion or hegemony, as it was the case with the Roman Empire, Napoléon, the Babylonian and the Acadian people. We will grasp the significance of strategy, and as well we shall see that military strategy is an art.
