Los sistemas operativos son una parte esencial de cualquier sistema informático, por lo que todos los planes de estudio de Informática incluyen uno o más cursos sobre sistemas operativos. Este libro está pensado como un texto general de prácticas de las asignaturas Sistemas Operativos y Diseño de Sistemas Operativos, pudiendo cubrir tanto la parte introductoria de los aspectos de programación de sistemas como aspectos avanzados de programación y diseño de Sistemas Operativos (programación de shell scripts, programación con llamadas al sistema, programación de módulos del sistema operativo, etc.). Se pretende complementar los libros de teoría con prácticas resueltas y proyectos de prácticas que muestren el uso de los Sistemas Operativos y la programación de aplicaciones con llamadas al sistema sobre distintos sistemas operativos (Linux, UNIX, Windows, ....). Obviamente, este libro resulta un complemento natural a los libros de Sistemas Operativos publicados por los autores, si bien se puede usar de forma autónoma, complementándolo con cualquier otro libro de teoría de Sistemas Operativos. Este libro es la segunda edición actualizada de nuestro libro de prácticas de sistemas operativos. Refleja la experiencia docente de los autores y permite desarrollar un amplio temario de conocimientos generales de sistemas operativos a través de 50 prácticas propuestas.
The needs of future digital data and computer systems are expected to be two to three orders of magnitude larger than for today's systems, to take account of unprecedented amounts of heterogeneous hardware, lines of source code, numbers of users, and volumes of data. Ultrascale computing systems (UCS) are a solution. Envisioned as large-scale complex systems joining parallel and distributed computing systems, which can be located at multiple sites and cooperate to provide the required resources and performance to the users, these technologies will extend individual systems to provide the resources that are very much needed.Based on the research work in the COST Action IC 1305 Network for Sustainable Ultrascale Computing (NESUS) this book presents important results and methods towards achieving sustainable UCS. The authors present a wide range of emerging programming models that facilitate the task of scaling and extracting performance on continuously evolving platforms, while providing resilience and fault-tolerant mechanisms to tackle the increasing probability of failures throughout the entire software stack. These methods are needed to achieve scale handling, better programmability and adaptation to rapidly changing underlying computing architecture, data centric programming models, resilience, and energy-efficiency.
The two volumes LNCS 8805 and 8806 constitute the thoroughly refereed post-conference proceedings of 18 workshops held at the 20th International Conference on Parallel Computing, Euro-Par 2014, in Porto, Portugal, in August 2014.
