Narrative of Joseph Samuel C. F. Frey is a book written by Joseph Samuel Christian Frederick Frey in 1833. The book is an autobiographical account of Frey's life, which includes his experiences as a slave in the United States and his subsequent escape to freedom in Canada. Frey was born in Germany in 1771 and was brought to America as a slave when he was eight years old. He was sold several times and worked on various plantations in Virginia, Maryland, and North Carolina. He was able to learn how to read and write despite the laws prohibiting slaves from being educated. Frey eventually escaped to Canada in 1808, where he became a preacher and worked to help other slaves escape to freedom. He also became involved in the Underground Railroad, a network of secret routes and safe houses used by slaves to escape to freedom in the North. The Narrative of Joseph Samuel C. F. Frey is an important historical document that provides insight into the experiences of slaves in America and the struggles they faced in their quest for freedom. It is a powerful and inspiring story of perseverance and determination, and it continues to be an important resource for scholars and historians studying the history of slavery in America. This scarce antiquarian book is a facsimile reprint of the old original and may contain some imperfections such as library marks and notations.
