Drawing upon her own vast experience, she deftly analyses individual songs of Schubert, Schumann and Wolf in terms of form, harmony, character and place in the development of Lied history. Later chapters are devoted to spotlighting problems with which ¿accompanists¿ must contend on their - not always smooth - path to become recognized and appreciated as collaborative artists.
