Diamonds on the Water is a beautiful, enchanting, yetheartbreaking love story. Growing up in the hills of West Virginia during the Great Depression, 15-year-old Annie is forced to quit school and take onthe role of caregiver. To help her parents and seven siblings, shemoves to the city to earn money. Annie lives with her aunt while helping care for her sick uncle. Even though she is able to aid herfamily financially, she continues to feel guilty about themstruggling back home. Life with her wealthy aunt and uncle exposes her to a more majestic side of life. Annie goes back to school to finish hereducation, inherits her uncle's sailboat, meets a young man named Michael, and experiences a period of hopeful triumph. Anniefulfills her childhood dreams of sailing, finding God's handiworkwhen she discovers Diamonds on the Water. After tragedy strikes Annie's family back in West Virginia, she isagain plunged into the caregiver role by taking responsibility forher siblings.
