This book was obviously written in response to those who believe that religions are the sole path to knowing and understanding God. I always have one rule about travelling and that is to always do so alone. So whatever possessed me to take my two eighty year old parents across the Channel escapes me. One had never left the country and the other one only did so to shoot Germans in the World War 2. A couple of successful TV submissions later, an Edinburgh Festival appearance and a pilot show for the BBC which saw him doing a ventriloquist act with a talking kebab, Kevin found his real vocation in life. Leaving the country. The accounts of his travels have previously been serialised for local talking newspapers for the blind and now by popular demand (by a group of blind octogenerians in Kent) are available in paperback. Kevin's writing combines a passion for history, a cynical view of the modern world and a silly sense of humour, resulting in an easily read narrative that is both entertaining and informative. Having run into riots in Egypt and Greece, this trip was a meticulously planned journey through some of the archaeological and natural wonders of Turkey. That was until President Erdogan annoyed the vast majority of the country and hordes of Turks stormed Taksim Square in Istanbul, some 100 yards from where my hotel was booked.
