Ludvig Holberg (født 1684 i Bergen, Norge - død 1754 i København) var en epokegørende dansk-norsk forfatter. Holberg er blevet kaldt "den danske litteraturs fader". Han var en produktiv og lærd forfatter, der udgav bøger om en lang række emner. Holberg skrev således både lærde videnskabelige værker om historie, geografi og filosofi, foruden nu klassiske skønlitterære værker indenfor genrerne komedier, romaner og poesi.
