Chasing Royal Slams is the story of a man with a dream of being a world record setter in the world of Game fishing. It started with the adrenalin rush that came with catching a grander Marlin and finished with the completion of all six Royal Slams set by the International Game Fish Association. Through much of his life Matt has been subjected to bullying, rejection and betrayal, losing large sums of money, when he contracted Chronic Fatigue Syndrome and could not work for a year. Yet these set-backs only pushed him towards the determination to achieve extraordinary goals. Matt was accompanied on many of his fishing trips by his partner Cynthia who, with Matt's help and support, has become the first blind woman in the world to achieve 3 Royal Slams in her own right. He has started a not for profit organisation, Fishin' for Freedom, helping ex-servicemen suffering from physical injuries or PTSD and other disabled people to discover the stress relief and pleasure that comes from fishing. The adventure of living the dream has taken him around the world, meeting many amazing people along the way and seeing some incredible places he would never have visited otherwise. It's a story he'll be telling for a long time to come, but this is not the end of the journey. Matt has a passion to help others enjoy the sport of fishing and teach them the skills he has learnt from some of the best fishermen in the world. He already has a new dream to carry him into the future and will doubtless write his next book based on those upcoming adventures.
