Letztendlich werden auch die Grundlagen der verschiedenen, sehr häufig eingesetzten Methoden der Computerrechnungen behandelt, womit Eigenschaften von Atomen, Molekülen und Kristallen berechnet werden können. Solche Rechnungen sind heutzutage Standard der chemischen Forschung.
