Preface to First EditionBrought together in this book are articles written in the span of over 10 years. And, as the title of the book suggests, various topics are examined in the articles on the basis of divine Guidance given in the Qur'aan.2. When our first grand-parents, Adam & Eve, were being sent down to this earth, they were advised, ..".if there comes to you guidance from Me, then whoever follows My guidance shall neither go astray, nor fall into distress and misery. But whosoever turns away from My Remembrance/Reminder, surely then is there for him a life of hardship, and We shall raise him up blind on the Day of Resurrection." [Q: 20.123, 20.124]3. Unfortunately, mankind has miserably failed to follow that divine advice and has consequently found itself embroiled in hardship and misery, time and again. Even the custodians of that divine message, the Muslims, are far from following the advice. And Allah's Wrath has fallen especially on them. That is why Muslims generally have become the favourite whipping boys of every Tom, Dick and Harry, all over the world today.4. The Qur'aan asks the Muslims to do one thing, and they do something else. It is this dichotomy that is highlighted in most of the articles in this book. In other articles, evidences of the divine origin of Qur'aan are brought out. The evidences lay in Verses that foretold scientific truths and events that were unknown at the time of the revelation of the Qur'aan. 5. I hope - and I pray Allah for fulfilment of the hope - that this book will induce at least some persons, Muslims and non-Muslims, to make the Qur'aan their default opening page on the monitors of their lives in order to make frequent references to it and get guidance wherefrom.

I present this humble work in the earnest hope that it will prompt my Readers to try and understand the divine Message in its original Arabic text. They should remember that no translation however meticulously done can ever equal the original Arabic text in its divine grandeur and pristine clarity. One may wonder why this yet another addition to the existing plethora of Translations and Commentaries! The answer to this question lies in the beauty of the fact that the divine Message of the Qur'aan remains valid for all times and ages since its revelation until the Last Day. The Message therefore needs to be studied from time to time in the changing perspectives of the changing times. It would be absolutely wrong to confine this universal Message for mankind to the circumstances and situations of a particular period in the past. Unfortunately, however, most of the commentators so far have based their understanding of the Qur'aan in the strict perspective of the circumstances and situations prevailing at the time of its revelation way back in 7th century A.D. The Muslim mindset generally has thus got stagnated and therefore unable to cope with the changing situations of the changing times. This humble attempt of mine is to help Muslims generally to come out, Allah willing, of that crippling stagnation. This Part (Manzil) of QUR'AANIC STUDIES - A Modern Tafsir is on the Qur'aanic Chapters 26 to 36. Hyperlinks to Verses/notes here are operative only in respect to those within this Part.

It is generally believed that Islam prohibits Interest. The Supreme Court of Pakistan has ruled that it is so. The Court's judgment is analysed in this book in Qur'aanic light.
