Two years after resolving a mysterious disappearance, Miss Manorma Guhathakurta thought her career as a self-proclaimed amateur sleuth over. One day, she, along with the entire populace of the town of Limley, receives an invitation from a new local resident to attend a ball at his dwelling: a certain Moss House. Nothing seems out of the ordinary at first, until the festivities take a turn for the sinister, with Moss House becoming the scene of a shocking crime. Predictably, the curious and quick-witted Manorma takes it upon herself to get to the bottom of things. Her quest to do so will certainly not be a cakewalk, however, as her private life soon gets in the way, making it increasingly clear to her that the course of true love never did run smooth. With both her heart and the town once again in chaos, it would seem that Manorma would have to defy all odds in order to restore peace to both. Although seemingly an impossible task, she had done so before. Who was to say she couldn't do it again?
Vidya Ann Singh had a quiet, comfortable life. Her entire world was her brother, her father and her home which she loved so dearly. It did not seem as though that would ever change, until one day she meets a certain Yusuf Ali Khan, Nawabzada of Jahanpur. Although the two are from completely different worlds, they soon find themselves irreversibly attached to one another. The young woman is thus forced to discover that love isn't always as idyllic as it is made out to be, as this newfound affection exposes her to a dark side of the world from which she had always been shielded in the past. Will the two overcome the mysterious dark forces conspiring against them? Vidya has no way of finding out, save for experiencing this dangerous, intoxicating love for herself.

Everything thus seemed set for her, until a new acquaintance entered her life, quickly becoming something far more to her. As if this wasn't enough unfamiliar territory to traverse, a friend of hers mysteriously vanishes in a motorcar one night. This turn of events perplexes her greatly, and eventually leads to her meeting a brand new someone who captures her attention in an altogether new way. Between her heart being pulled in two different directions and a potentially sinister crime afoot, Manorma finds herself overwhelmed with confusion. In the words of her father, she was "e;always a little reckless"e;.
Ariana has been battling unhappiness for most of her life. Ostensively, things were fine. She had a great job and a pleasant enough life until she met a stranger and life took on a completely different turn. This book is a wondrous discovery of the past with a vision so clear it's astonishing. Readers are taken back to England's Regency period-a forgotten time where Ariana is transported. She is faced with daunting enemies, jealousy, the unraveling of long-buried secrets, and threats to her very life. But all this is of no matter, for the predominant strain is the magical personality of a man and a bond so strong and so powerful that it becomes impossible to get over it in the past life or, indeed, in any other.
