Leonardo da Vinci urged us to look at clouds and stains on the walls and read into them faces, animals and battle-scenes. As Leonardo suggested... in these marks the artist can "discover a resemblance to various landscapes, beautified with mountains, rivers, rocks, trees. Or again, you may see battles and figures in action or strange faces and costumes and an endless variety of objects which you can could reduce to complete and well-drawn forms." Drawing meditations (random marks on paper replace stains on a wall) are scanned into the computer and enhanced in the Photoshop Program. Images are then printed using RGB Lazer and Giclee print technology. MINDWORKS are drawing meditations, images rising from the unconscious mind. MINDWORKS are a process of discovery, art put to the service of self-realization for the artist as well as the viewer. It is a journey from NO-where to NOW-here. Website: http: //MINDWORKSart.net

Or again, you may see battles and figures in action or strange faces and costumes, and an endless variety of objects which you could reduce to complete and well-drawn forms." The process of MINDWORKS imagery is one of adventure. Having no preconceived idea of what the final image will be, the artist begins with a few vague marks on paper...a kind of doodling. These mark often are made with graphite, charcoal, and/or lithograph pencils, and more recently, stabilo pencils which are water soluble and allow for tonal effects...touching the marks with brush and water. The initial drawing meditations (random marks on paper replace stains on a wall) are then scanned into the computer, digitized and enhanced in the Photoshop program with changes of composition, motif and color. Since this imagery is created on the computer it is available only on the monitor screen or as an inkjet print. It is an advent... an adventure of discovery, of self-realization, for the artist... as well as the viewer. It is a journey from NO-where to NOW-here.

They are then enhanced with more drawing..."drawing-them-forth", so to speak. Associations occur and it is mostly a process of discovery and adventure...and advent. There is an inward focus and an outward focus to our lives. Outwardly the focus, for me, was what could be created, what would sell, be acceptable. This was my life in the industrial design world, designing and teaching in all it's aspects. Always the marketplace was kept in mind. Inward focus became possible with fine arts, studying oil painting at the Brooklyn Museum with Reuben Tam, and later printmaking at Columbia University, Teachers' College. The images and sketches in this book are early works as contrasted with MINDWORKS of more recent years. Craftmanship and technique have always interested and challenged me; it is an adventure of discovery, of failures and successes, the visual world of art opening up every step of the way. What better way to discover one's self than to be an artist.

Has the battle over all the proposed new housing turned nasty? When a developer lies to the police and another councillor is attacked in broad daylight, Inspector Wendy Pepper has to work out who profits from this mayhem. Meanwhile, in Norfolk a terrified prisoner awaits their fate.
What are MINDWORKS?Carl Jung was a pioneer in the exploration of the unconscious mind. Dreams, fantasies, myths and free associations were some of his tools of exploration. Calming his mind and allowing thoughts and feelings to rise to consciousness were part of the process. MINDWORKS are drawing meditations, art put to the service of self-realization for the artist as well as the viewer.
MINDWORKS are drawing meditations, images rising from the unconscious mind. 'Allowing' is most important. It is necessary to have no pre-conceived ideas about what the work will be. I start with my mind in an 'idle' state, kind of drifting, calm and relaxed. I put down a few smudges with charcoal on paper and ideas rising from my unconscious begin to appear. Stabilo pencil on mylar film is also used, touching the marks with water in a brush. I read into these vague marks whatever images come to mind and then enhance them with more drawing...'drawing' them forth, so to speak. Associations occur and it is mostly a process of discovery and adventure. It is important not to judge too quickly, just observe what is happening. There is no need to control, allowing is the key. It is very exciting. I let things happen--an advent. These images are then digitized and enhanced in the computer.MINDWORKS are a process of discovery, art put to the service of self-realization for the artist as well as the viewer.
