The Great Compassion Mantra is a powerful mantra created by Mahayana Buddhists. This Mantra is said to have the power to liberate all sentient creatures from the Hell of Suffering, delivering them from Ignorance. These Prayers of the Great Mantra are presented here in all their facets, for like a cut gem they have many faces. In their gradual levels they can carry those with no knowledge of the way to the very portal that leads to the path of Awakening. The Prayer Book is such a gradual process, but when the Great Mantra is understood and internalized, it can suddenly carry one to the depths of real understanding, from where he or she can advance to the Hand and Eye contemplations of the Great Mantra.

The Great Compassion Mantra of Natural Wisdom is a powerful Mantra developed by Mahayana Buddhists. This Mantra is said to have the power to liberate all sentient creatures from the Hell of Suffering, delivering them from Ignorance. In this third and final volume in the series, Master Shanjian Dashi explores the Ten Heart Attributes of the Buddha Nature and gives detailed instruction on the practice of Mindfulness that complements the chanting of the Great Mantra. The Great Compassion Mantra is a verbal form of Dharana, a Sutra which uses syllables to transmit a powerful and effective transcendental message, creating a special state of consciousness. The transcendental message and the special state of consciousness set the conditions necessary for major changes in Attitudes, Intentions, and Actions. This awakens Benevolent Love, Compassion, and Gladness, engenders the Liberation of Wisdom, and facilitates the elimination of Suffering and Stress. The Mantra and the Commentary provide then the knowledge which leads to personal growth and the firm establishment of Wisdom, and can therefore be used to completely change the focus of one's own life or the lives of others who are open and receptive to what we can call Cosmic Consciousness.
A guide to reciting the Great Compassion Mantra (Da Bei Zhou) based on selected excerpts from Shanjian Dashi's 3-volume commentary. (IMPORTANT NOTE: This book contains no original material.)

This Mantra is said to have the power to liberate all sentient creatures from the Hell of Suffering, delivering them from Ignorance. In this second volume in a series of three, Master Shanjian Dashi presents an overview of the relevant psychological processes of the human mind followed by a detailed account of the Mantra's 42 Hand-and-Eye preparations, which are specifically designed to eliminate the identities and restore the Buddha Nature as the governing principle in our day-to-day experience. In this first volume in a series of three, Master Shanjian Dashi presents a lucid account of the problem of suffering in psychological terms and how the mantra is designed to counter its effects and eventually eliminate its grip on the mind. There follows a line-by-line explanation of the Mantra's 68 lines, complete with the Hand-and-Eye preparations that make the mantra effective in coupling Benevolent Action with Wisdom. As its title suggests, Dharma Psychology is a fruitful marriage of East and West that blends scientific knowledge of our mental and sensory processes with time-honored experiential wisdom about human nature. The result is an eminently lucid and compassionate approach to the human predicament that enhances the Buddha's teachings on suffering with a detailed explanation of why and how it arises -and what can be done about it. Although it is not academic, the book thoroughly analyzes the hidden workings of the human mind, including the path of incoming sense data; the subliminal complexes that interfere with its processing; the tension and stress arising from the conflicts of these stained visceral, emotional and mental complexes with each other, with existing social norms and with the inner voice that cries for the restoration of natural harmony and balance; and the often phony resolutions we implement to relieve those conflicts through cognitive dissonance. In so doing, it depicts an anatomy of human suffering familiar to many yet laden with the ultimate promise that there is a way out. Shanjian Dashi is equally straightforward in his appraisal of human beings' potential to retrieve their pure nature. His analysis covers the natural processes involved in that recovery (curiosity, creativity, imagination and humor, among others), reviews compatible humanistic psychology models, and establishes a framework where they can be combined with meditation techniques such as mindfulness, clear comprehension and vipassana (insight meditation) to bring about a release from the symptoms of suffering. Seldom before have the arms for self-liberation been laid so openly before the eyes and hands of the general public. Complete with multiple diagrams and references ranging from the ancient Vedas and Shakespeare to Freud and Simon & Garfunkel, plus an appendix on how to practice vipassana and an index, Dharma Psychology will be an invaluable source for psychologists, psychiatrists and therapists, as well as for meditation instructors.
