First, the term ¿identity¿ is defined and the historical background concerning Caribbean immigration in Great Britain and Pan-Africanism is provided. Then, the identitiy issues of the play¿s immigrants are discussed. This discussion includes the first-generation immigrant Vivien Marshall as well as the second-generation immigrants Errol and Alvin, Vivien¿s two sons. Notions such as "playing white" and "playing black" as well as illusions and disillusionment are presented and analyzed in detail.

The comparison focuses especially on the representation of London as well as on the relationship between the detective and the city. Among other things, it analyses the methods through which Sherlock Holmes expands his knowledge of London. The paper uses Jurij Lotman¿s well-known theory of boundary crossing for part of the analysis.

The respective relationships of these men play a major role in their development, which is why this paper focuses on the homoerotic relationship of King Edward and Gaveston as well as on the relationship of Queen Isabel and Mortimer Junior. Analyzed will be sexual and social transgressions as well as their effects which drive the plot forward.

In the first part of the paper, a paratext of the novel - namely Mary Shelley¿s introduction from 1831 - is analyzed, because Dorothy Louise uses this paratext as a new frame for the Frankenstein story in her play. In the second part of the paper, the narrative structure of the novel is discussed and the ways in which Dorothy Louise adapts those structures are presented.

Well in 1895, and compares it to the popular British TV series "Doctor Who", in particular the very first episode "An Unearthly Child" and a fairly modern episode called "The Doctor's Wife".The aspect of dicussion is the motif of time travel. "The Time Machine" was one of the very first stories concerned with time travel, so it is analyzed in which the motif has developed since then. Specific aspects of discussion are the character of the time traveler and the complexity of the time machine, in both "The Time Machine" and the chosen "Doctor Who" episodes.
